John Aylesbury – Winter Edition 2023

A limited‑edition blend from Kopp Tobacco GmbH & Co (Germany) released for the 2023 winter season.
Tobacco mix: Black Cavendish, Burley, Virginia, Golden Virginia Flake.
Flavor profile: Sweet fruit notes dominated by cherry, rounded out with a warm hint of cinnamon.
Strength: Medium‑to‑full body – the Cavendish gives richness, Burley adds a mild bite, while the Virginias keep the smoke bright and aromatic.
Intended use: Ideal for roll‑your‑own cigarettes or pipe smoking; the flake component ensures an even burn.IMG_3686.jpeg

Peterson (Book of) Kells and SWRA - the pellet smoker is burning in on the patio below and someone doesn’t want to be on the deck - a little smoky, haha. View attachment 415668View attachment 415669
After all, dogs are man's best friends!! God, those eyes...
I also have a little Jack Russell, and sometimes she gives me that “please‑give‑me‑a‑treat” look that’s impossible to ignore. She knows exactly that that innocent yet persistent stare guarantees her a snack—and, of course, I can’t say no.🤣

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, cod and snow peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. Smoked a bowl of year 2019 Seattle Pipe Club Deception Pass plug in a smooth straight brown late 1930s Linkman’s Dr. Grabow Deluxe Bruyere 9703B pot with a nickel accent and a black tapered vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Couldn't post earlier as you'll see why below the pipe pic.

Half way through this bowl of year 2021 Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Evening Flake in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson Ebony POTY 4AB No. 422/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' by my feet with her head on a catnip sock.

Watching The Conversation for the first time while smoking some Freybourg & Treyer Vintage Flake in the Carroll of Carrollton and doing some schoolwork. Tomorrow will be a busy day, and then into a busy week. But I’m smoking and life is good.
Caught a pipe smoker in the first ten minutes or so of this film! IMG_6896.jpegIMG_6899.jpeg

Today's bowl was Savinelli 140th Anniversary in a Stefano rhodesian, with a beer, as wifey did her nails. The experience made me feel so...domesticated? It would now seem that my next order of business will be to invest in a good Thesaurus. 9/10

Bird report: California scrub-jay, House finch, California towhee, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Mountain chickadee, Northern flicker, Hairy woodpecker, California quail, Steller's jay, White-breasted nuthatch, Eurasian collared-dove, Band-tailed pigeon, and Western bluebird.

A blessedly quiet Sabbath, although my 80 point Scrabble loss to wifey certainly threatened to upend an otherwise tranquil Shabbat. 😩

With Savinelli's sesquicentennial (no need for a Thesaurus anymore, I guess) fast approaching, I can't help wondering what they might have planned... 🤔 Anyone know of some good scuttlebutt?

No specific announcements yet for Savinelli’s 150th anniversary in 2026, but expect a special release, likely in the Collection 2026 series, with premium briar, unique shapes, and exclusive acrylic stems. Recent 2025 releases like Sasso, Dune, and Collection 2025 hint at their focus on innovative designs. Savinelli often collaborates with distributors like Smokingpipes, so watch for limited editions. Check savinelli.it or Smokingpipes.com for updates closer to 2026!
