Well, Carol, I don't know how you did it, but last night we got almost an inch of rain and it is still raining this morning! First rain in two months. The thirsty ground is soaking it up as fast as it can fall.

Up in Ennis TX this morning dropping my wife off with a minivan full of her girlfriends at the Big Rat’s Gas and Crap Warehouse. They’re on their way down south for a cruise, I’m on my way home with a fine cup of coffee and B.B. King’s Live in Cook County Jail on the speakers. I have long appreciated my wife’s car as the nicer of our two vehicles - by a long shot - but I am coming to a deeper appreciation of Toyota’s design philosophy, as they have clearly included a pipe rest in the center console by the coffee holder and built-in tobacco tray.

Six-oh boy here we go b-day smoke: freshly popped Marlin Flake in an LJ Peretti Virgin Deluxe (no virgins were harmed in the making of this pipe), Earl Grey tea, sunshine after a thunderstorm last night. All good.

I don’t post here every time I fire up a bowl, but if it’s a great smoke, or would make a nice photo, then it’s worth pulling out the cellphone. Today was one of those days. The home-made burly cherry was the perfect dryness, the Hardcastle diplomat practically smoked itself, the weather was great after a couple days of rain…even the dog was happy to sit on the lawn without too much attention. I hope everyone had as nice a smoke today as I did.
