Now smoking Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite. Fed Daisy the Feral Princess, and my cats. The rain is light now, but I brought Tomato the Brave and Abner the Eager in to eat. Before I let them have a meal, I dried them off. Everybody's happy now. Didn't see Harry the Hairy, who ate a bit earlier. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Smoking Mac Baren Vanilla Flake in a Morgan Bones Milan tonight, paired with a warm mug of French roast with just a little bit of cream and sugar.

I remember for a couple months last year I was smoking Mac Baren Vanilla Flake or Vanilla Cream Loose Cut with my coffee every morning, and having it again tonight I'm not sure why I ever stopped! If you're the sort who likes their coffee with a bit of cream and sugar then I can't think of a better blend to pair it with than this. Vanilla Flake is just a little sweet but not too sweet, and has a very natural and mellow creamy vanilla bean top note that compliments the warm, bready, slightly grassy Virginias in this flake so very well! It's a really harmonious blend of honest Virginia tobacco flavors with real vanilla and cream.puffy

Did essential low calorie snacking ;) and am a third of the way through this bowl of Hearth & Home AJ’s Vaper in a pre-1952 Sutliff Falcon 372 (made by Comoy’s) smooth light brown straight bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Working and listening to a WWII episode of Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons from my radio collection.

Enjoyed a small, but tasty golden delicious apple, and am a third of the way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Tomato the Brave and Harry the Hairy were hungry again, so they're happily eating now. I'll feed my cats after I post this smoke, and then I'll start reading baseball box scores.

Here's the latest photo of the two orange scampers that a fellow pipe smoker adopted. Beautiful fellas.

After finishing the bowl of Vanilla Flake I decided that I enjoyed it so much I wanted some more, so now I'm trying the loose cut version of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream in the same pipe for comparison!

What I can say straight off is that Vanilla Flake and Vanilla Cream Loose Cut are the same blend of tobaccos with the same top note, though there are some differences. The pressing of the tobaccos together in the flake cut version marries and intensifies the flavors of both the Virginia tobaccos and the vanilla topping, as well as softening the slightly rough edges and muting the flavors of the Burleys to make them disappear into the background and provide a smoother retrohale.

On the flip side, if you like more tobacco flavors and less vanilla with greater variety from puff to puff then the loose cut version would be the better choice. You can taste the Burleys more in the loose cut version and some puffs provide more Virginia, more Burley, or more creamy vanilla sweet Cavendish; whereas with the flake version it's the same Virginias plus vanilla and cream flavor profile in every puff from top to bottom.

They're both excellent, the finest vanilla aromatics I've ever smoked I'd say, but I prefer the flake cut version for it's slightly stronger vanilla and cream top note and more consistent Virginia forward flavor profile. I don't think you could go wrong with either though!puffy

I've passed the quarter mark of this bowl of Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a black rusticated medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 67/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. I'll probably end the day with this smoke.

A quarter of a bowl left of year 2016 Sutliff Revelation Match in a straight smooth brown pre-WWII Kingsway (Comoy’s) London Made 61 Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Had another smoke because Harry the Hairy kept wanting food, and I know he doesn't eat the amount I've put out there several times. I figured perhaps Tomato the Brave ate some or maybe it was a possum. Anyway, I saw the motion light out there, and when I looked out the back door window, Harry was staring at me, and meowing for food. I brought some dry food out, and saw that the culprit was Abner the Eager. I brought him in the house, dried him off and he's still eating, the poor fella. I think this is the first time I have seen Abner get the best of Harry because Abner's usually so scared of him that he hides or runs away. He didn't come out to where I could see him until the last time. Hunger will sometimes make Abner a tad bolder than his usual gentle self.
