Relaxing after a wonderful salad, haddock and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I am smoking a bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2014 HU Directors Cut in a very early Ascorti straight New Dear KS billiard with a carved shank and a black acrylic tapered stem. The tobacco is moist and completely black. It's my last 2014 tin. I have a few from 2015 and 2016. Watching the Phillies-Mets game. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Jim, this Pete strikes me as the Platonic Ideal Bulldog. puffy
I agree, but my favorite is the X155, which is the model that Nigel Bruce smoked in two Sherlock Holmes movies. It's amazingly sturdy, and well crafted. If you and anybody reading this likes this model, please contact Shane Ireland to ask Peterson to put this back in to production. I've been after them to make it again for a long time.

I'm thinking, for Bob, this is just par for the course ... that you've got him accustomed.
There was a bank nearby that used to give out a dog biscuit for a dog in the vehicle. Betting Bob would have enjoyed a complimentary carrot or apple. : )

Thanks for mentioning cobs, though: now I have a hankering for some PS400 in my MM Legend!
COBS (!!!). Yes! I mentioned at last week's Pipe Club that with various businesses decorating for Oct & Halloween with corn stalks, bales of hay & pumpkins, I've decided to only bring 2 or 3 cobs to our Oct Pipe Club, feeling they would correlate well with the Fall - Oct - Halloween "vibe".
Having said that, I have to admit to a great big OOPS. I loaded up one of my cobs ... 3rd week of Aug ... with some Mac Baren Club Blend, then set it aside & (admission) forgot about it. Since them, I sort of dedicated Sept to reviewing my inventory of briars, specifically looking at some that I've let languish. I've, enjoyably, been bringing those back into the rotation throughout this month, savoring how well they still smoke --- and no reason they wouldn't. But with Oct starting to be "just around the corner", last night I wanted to shine the light back onto some cobs and OMG, that cob from Aug, I realized it's still packed with the Club Blend, now about 4 weeks.
Well, it's certainly nicely dried. It lit immediately & smoked ... superlatively. Oct cob focus, here I come, but of course there's still a fair amount of time left in Sept.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2019 HU Directors Cut in a smooth slight bend dark brown 1940s-1950s Comoy’s Blue Riband 228C prince with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Five years in a jar hasn't muted the extra dkf that K&K added when they greatly reduced the perique content by much. The 2014 DC that I smoked before this had mellowed a mite, but the perique was still obvious, and I could taste a little fermentation.

Had a bowl of Robert McConnell Latakia Flake in a Peterson Standard System 307 about an hour ago. That was one strong smoke, very flavorful and full of nicotine - it didn’t help that the 307 is my largest-sized bowl. Had to get up halfway through to stretch my sea legs and drink some water, and I’m still feeling it even now!

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2010 Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. I'm behind on reading baseball scores, and trying to catch up. Will check on the ferals soon. Daisy the Feral Princess and Abner the Eager are snoozin' in different rooms.
