Another bowl of the Davidoff Flake Medallion in the Vauen Olaf bent egg this afternoon. While I am not a regular fan of perique this blend is quite outstanding (top 5 on SPC) and I would purchase it again in a pinch or maybe just for the variety. And the nic hit is quite good even in small amounts. I recommend it of looking for a smooth Virginia, Perique, Black Cavendish blend. Every draw is smooth and flavorful down to the ash.

Now smoking year 2010 Amphora Original (Brown) in a full bend barley sandblast Peterson 125th Anniversary 1898-2023 No. 172/330 302 brandy military mount with a silver band and a black vulcanite p-lip saddle stem. This was one of my go to smokes in the mid-late 1970s. Had a a little more Oriental presence then, and very little topping. It's still a worthwhile blend, though.

Rare two-pipe day for me...had a bowl of Mac Baren Vanilla Flake in an Al Pascia meer this morning, while wifey was on a Zoom call. 8.5/10

Now drying a bowl of Peterson Flake to go in my new Savinelli Mattone 614 faux-Hungarian. Still undecided what to dedicate to this one, so for now just having non-latakia non-aromatics until I figure it out.

Bird report: House finch, White-breasted nuthatch, California quail, Steller's jay, California scrub-jay, American crow, Mountain chickadee, Mourning dove, Northern flicker, White-crowned sparrow (first one of the season, which heralds cold weather ahead), and Western bluebird.

And, as previously promised...
