Nearly finished my packet of St. Bruno Ready Rubbed; less than a pipeful left, I'll have to smoke it when I open the second one!
When I bought my first clay pipe nearly 2 years ago I thought there were only 4 brands of pipe tobacco; namely Condor, Clan, Mellow Virginia and St. Bruno!
I've smoked all 4 of these but I discovered the Gawith Hoggarth blends when I went to buy some pipe tobacco for when I went to see Lace Wars last year.
I've found that some pipe smokers are happy to let me have a pipeful of baccy, but others (including a couple of regular ones in Chesterfield) think I'm a beggar!
My old friend and former next door neighbour Jamie is a new convert to the pipe after smoking cigarettes since I bought him a pipe as a thank you for decorating my Great Hall and staircase.
I've only smoked a regular (non-clay) pipe twice, both with Clan.
Once was when I met a fellow pipe smoker at a classic car show who let me have a few puffs of Clan out of his briar when I didn't have my pipe with me and the second was after I broke my clay and I smoked some Clan in the briar pipe I bought for Jamie. The Clan seemed to taste stronger in a briar than in a clay, although I'm not sure if I was getting a taste of the wood (as I'm only used to smoking a clay) or just the larger bowl.
I'm thinking of taking part in Stoptober next month:)

By a quick bowl I don't think you meant you smoked it under 2 minutes like I did as a practice for the Egremont Crab Fair pipe smoking competition, where you have to smoke a clay pipe of tobacco as fast as possible and the first to smoke their tobacco wins!

Almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Chatting with the fella who gifted me the pipe.

Just finished a bowl of Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in one of my father's no-name Algerian Briar pipes, a Liverpool, while watching The Stranger. This movie was made the year I was born, and is a favorite. I've considered putting a piece of tape around the stem, where it meets the shank, in honor of the film.

I'm smoking a great big bowl of hot air. Sorry, I meant Capstan Blue. Unfortunately it is abundantly clear that straight Virginias give me absolutely nothing, I may not have a refined palate, but equally I don't have the time to have one of my two bowls per day be tasteless (CAVEAT: for me).

Will jar and let it sit for a few hundred years.
