There are some gorgeous views on those bluffs at Ft. Pillow. I have never been there during the winter when the leaves were off. If you get the chance to go up there this winter, please take photos and share.Happy Halloween, everyone!

Great looking horse! You look right at home in the saddle!Was in the 30's this morning so I saddled up my big black TWH, Whip, and we had a nice ride. Later, after some chores, I built the first fire of the season and kicked back with some Haunted Bookshop in my Peterson XL 315.
Riding horses, building fires and smoking pipes are the things that ORB's (Old Retired Bastards) do in the middle of the work day. Those of you who are retired, know what I mean. Those not, well...... it's something to look forward to.

Almost always 18 holes. Sometimes, 2 Cigars, sometimes 3.
That is awesome, dude! Would you believe my main sport when I was young, after tennis, was badminton? I played indoor badminton several years, through high school, and a little in college. This was decades ago obviously. I was just wearing my old Club T-shirt the other day. Washington Township was where I grew up, in Northern New Jersey. (shout-out to New Jersians @Sgt_Mac). For anyone wondering, people obviously don't play much indoor badminton here, but my Dad is from India where the sport was commonplace. He started a local club so we could play. It was a great success. Very, very fond memories of that club. That was in the 80s.Smoking some Horizons in my Pete 103 after a lunchtime round of badminton with my wife

Boy is that pipe a Looker!!University Flake in this cool little Peterson Pre-Republic Shamrock. I’ve owned this for 15 years or so. It’s perfect for one flake. Great smoker! Earl Grey.

Woah! That is too cool man, I bet you could whoop us good. We just started a little while ago, though I played with my dad, who was also way into racquetball, when I was a little kid. My wife and her friend will play for hours sometimes when the weather is nice, and it’s always fun to sneak in some lunchtime birdie bashin’! Me and my wife have never played indoors actually, only outside and with extremely intro-tier equipment - though we have just acquired some shuttlecocks that are actually fletched instead of plastic.That is awesome, dude! Glad to hear you received your first shipment of Pu-erh from China — that’s a great start!The very end of a pouch of John Bull True English, with a healthy smattering of cigar leaf strewn in.
2018 Vermont Freehand Cherrywood Morta with DIY hardwood ring.
Really good mix.
Pu'er tea -- more on that below, if interested.

@Benedict Munsinger & @Fralphog
Since you are both Pu'er guys, thought I'd share -- I just cracked open my first ripe Pu'er cake I received from China recently. Don't know what I'm doing, LOL, but here is my first experience. It's very nice, although I think I could have brewed it a bit stronger.
Thanks @Benedict Munsinger , I was hoping you might chime in with some tips. Thank you for the well wishes. And right you were. I steeped those same leaves several times, for longer periods, and it actually kept getting darker and stronger. It became nicely dark and flavorful -- it just needed a bit more time. I learned a lot this first session. Very delicious, too!Glad to hear you received your first shipment of Pu-erh from China — that’s a great start!For me, the amount of leaf is already second nature — I usually just measure it by eye. At first, I pour boiling water over the leaves for about 1–2 minutes and then discard that rinse. It helps the tea “wake up” and unfold its aroma. After that, I brew it properly. Unlike regular teas, good Pu-erh can be re-steeped multiple times throughout the day, as long as the initial concentration is strong enough. High-quality Pu-erh can easily handle 6–10 infusions, sometimes even more.
Enjoy your tea session — may your cup be smooth and the flavor deep!![]()
