Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am smoking year 2020 D&R VIP in a smooth brown medium bend 1980 Peterson’s sterling silver spigot 314 with a black vulcanite saddle fish tail stem hallmarked at 1979. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. It's the last of David's pipes that I'm breaking today. When I figure out what to smoke in the others I have cleaned, and clean other pipes that David's sister gave me, I'll smoke them, too.

Jim, I know you said you were gonna only smoke David's pipes through end of month, but I have noticed most of them you say "first time I've smoked this one" or words to that effect....
Please remind me again how many pipes did you receive from his sister??

This is probably one of the most controversial blends out there. Opinions range from absolute dislike — “burnt burley with a strange wine note” — to high praise calling it “complex, mature, and deeply satisfying.” And honestly, I can see both sides. Sometimes it smokes smooth, with nutty, fruity, and brandy-like tones, and other times it turns harsh and heavy, especially in the first part of the bowl.
Pros: interesting cube-cut burley base, rich flavor, and great aging potential.
Cons: inconsistent performance, sensitive to packing and moisture, and definitely an acquired taste.
In the end, it’s a real mystery of a blend — unpredictable, moody, but always fascinating.😁

I've had a couple tins of Barbary Coast. I really enjoyed it. That's a great looking pipe too.
