A third of the way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. It's still raining. Daisy the Feral Princess and Harry the Hairy ate, but Tomato the Brave is hiding out somewhere. Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger ate well. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

I have always loved the Yachtsman (or Zulu) shape in a pipe. That said, I prefer a larger pipe than the standard yachtsman. I was elated to find a good deal on an unsmoked, Kaywoodie Yachtsman which was the 2010 "Pipe of the Year." This one is number 66 out of the 150 that were made and at 7" long, it is a nice size with a large bowl. So, I decided that the maiden voyage smoke for this be some HU Edward G. It was a great experience and after cleaning out the barn this morning..... I figured I deserved it. puffy

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am part way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaica Blue Mountain, neat, is my drink.

Kind of a bittersweet round of golf today...my friend just sold her house, and this course is "members only," so this may have been the last time I get to play this 9-hole par 30. Made the most of it and shot +10 (my age!). Accompanying me was Mac Baren Plumcake in a MM Dagner poker. Puffing in a stiff breeze was tough, but mastering a lob wedge is much more so. 8/10

Bird report: House finch, California scrub-jay, California towhee, Dark-eyed junco, White-crowned sparrow, American crow, Band-tailed pigeon, Red-tailed hawk, Northern flicker, Oak titmouse, Mountain chickadee, Steller's jay, White-breasted nuthatch, Hairy woodpecker, Acorn woodpecker, and Spotted towhee.

This bowl was dedicated to my great-great aunt Rose, the eldest victim of the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, which took place seven years ago today. 🙏
May her memory be for a blessing. And may all work towards ending religious violence.
