No idea. In my research i read that when Peterson moved shops they would use the old bands and thats what i think is going on with this one.
That reminds me of the Peterson 80S I bought at Christmas in 1980. I didn't know about silver hallmarks then, and never gave it a thought. A number of years ago, when I learned about them, I checked the dates on all my silver banded pipes. Oddly enough, the band on that Peterson 80S indicated that it was made in 1983! Obviously, it wasn't because I know when I bought it and how much I paid for it ($29.95) at my then-local Tinderbox. Really weird.

Mark Irwin couldn't explain it either. He thought I must have misremembered when I bought it, which was impossible. My then girl friend was with me when I bought it. When we went to visit her family in Ohio the summer of 1981, it was one of the pipes that I took with me so my date of purchase is not in doubt.

Now smoking year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a 1980s straight smooth Big Ben pot with a nickel band and a black vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe was gifted to me by Mark Ryan. No walking for me today due to the cold and rainy weather. Fed all the cats. The ferals came in to eat, and then they wanted out. Considering the weather, I thought they'd rather be inside and warm. Oh well. They'll be back.

Not much time to interact lately as I have been working on a "fixer upper" house in my spare time, but I haven't gone anywhere. Lately I have been into the Italian dark fired blends. Today it was Toscano Sinfonia in a Ser Jacopo freehand. Its getting cold enough at night to start easing into the English blends. Later today it will be GLP Bankside. Waiting for the first good frost to start dipping into the supply of Tashkent.

We went to the Greenville SC area to see Travis Tritt and Zach Top play, it was an excellent show. Had to stop by Boda pipes and cigars and I picked up this Celebi Meerschaum and some Avanti anisette cigars. Those Avantis are a face full of anisette, really good just to have in your mouth unlit.
Smoking C&D Rajah’s Court in the new Celebi. I have been wanting a shallow bowled Meer for Latakia for a while and once I saw the lattice on this, no question take my money.View attachment 426481View attachment 426485View attachment 426482View attachment 426483

This is an incredible meer, can't wait to see how it colors!

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have passed the last quarter of this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaica Blue Mountain, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes. Daisy the Feral Princess is the only feral with any sense. The rain started pouring down harder and she wanted in. Dunno where the others are, but knowing them, they are staying dry. Harry the Hairy's probably under the deck.

I am humbly honored, I don’t know what a kewpie doll is but I’ll take mine delivered in person, so we can smoke a bowl together. I have no doubt your company would be enjoyable.

A Kewpie Doll is a universal carnival prize, a cute doll like item, that is given out as a prize for guys (usually with a girl present) who knock over iron bottles with foam baseballs, or other such universal games promoted by hucksters on the midways of fairs everywhere.

Great fun on double dates, where the guys usually try to outdo each other and thus spend a lot of money trying to impress fair lady, who is usually very impressed by such male macho competitive stuff.

Won a couple of them myself under such circumstances. Wonderful, nostalgic times. 🙃

Kinda like beer chugging contests at the local pub. Macho Madness lol. I won a lot of those hahahaha.

Great time at the Las Vegas Vegas International Pipe Show yesterday. It’s great having a pipe show that’s in my city. Thanks much to Brian. My MO is to try and find some vintage tobacco. A few years ago. I was able to get a 17 year old tin of Samuel Gawith Best Brown #2 which is magical. This year I got an original Dunhill tin of Elizabethan Mixture and a 2005 tin of McClelland Blackwoods Flake which I’m smoking now. I do love that ketchup! Room note is very pungent but Loki doesn’t seem to mind. View attachment 426467
