Beautiful. I love seeing DIY (amateur?) homemade pipes. So glad to hear it smokes well. Although much simpler, my little dowel-based pipe actually smokes really well. Question about the stem: I assume you didn't make that (?) -- did you buy a replacement stem and then just whittle down the shank to match up?

When McClelland's was still in business, I was on a huge english/balkan kick, and really didn't smoke Virginias much. Turns out they had some of the best on the planet (IMHO). So I've been burning up my stash of mostly 14-15 year old McC VAs, and running out. Today I broke out some of their Blakeney's Best Acadian Ribbon. It has what they call "toasted" VAs. I now greatly regret not hoarding their various VA blends, notwithstanding the frowning such behavior elicits. My jar was dated 2005, and it is wonderful. After all this time, it's really difficult to pick out the perique because it's been so thoroughly integrated into the flavor profile. I get lots of rich toast, and if I really concentrate, an occasional experience of the fruit and spice from the Perique. Smoking in my very trusty little Granhill Select bent Dublin, a pipe I like to use for serious tasting.

Preparing my posts for last night and this morning, but as a prelude, I've been noticing an awful lot of colored stems posted lately, in all kinds of pipe configurations and shapes, including meers, briars - bamboo and plastic combos . . . .

Kinda nauseating. Hope it has something to do with Halloween. If not, I know why I've been sneezing all morning. Allergic reaction.

Reminds me of some babe in one of the symphony orchestras I played in, who showed up with a multicolored plastic violin. Nobody laughed, and as she was a forgettable non-contract extra, was never hired as a casual again. Forgot totally about that incident until this week.

Hope this situation is a passing thing . . . .

Near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Daisy the Feral Princess woke up when she heard me open a can of wet food for Sleepy Suzy, and wasn't shy about scooting up to me for some. I fed her a few feet away from Suzy, and after that, Daisy wanted out. I kept the back door open as I chatted with her about whether or not she really wanted to be out in cold rain. She quickly came back in, nibbled a little, and then wanted out again. She'll be back in soon or she'll go into one of cat houses we have outside.

Yea, it’s an extra I had laying around. When I stated this little project I had intended it to be an all wood pipe. That, however, didn’t work out.
I like your pipe you made as well!
