I’m halfway through a tin of Maverick Route 66, so it’s time for some conclusions. Smoked in a Mario Pascucci -P Rust-2127 (silver ring) while walking through an autumn forest. The blend leaves a mixed impression — the Virginia here is rather harsh, with no sweetness at all, showing a slight bitterness that makes it feel more Burley-like than a classic Virginia base. The smoke is dry and a bit rough, but it has character — like an old American highway at noon, only now surrounded by the scent of fallen leaves and the first chill of the season.

First off, great dog. I have always admired your dog, it seems like a sweet friend and I love its color.
Second, very cool, evocative review of this tobacco! I have never had the pleasure of knowing it existed before, what gives? Who makes this very American-sounding blend?

The second half of last nights bowl of PS LNF didn't work out; a piece of burned tobacco got stuck in the Pub pipe draft hole blocking it and reversing the system leaving a soggy wet mess that I ended up dumping. That must have been an improper packing problem. Alternating today between PS LNF and Orlik golden slices in the Peterson Pub pipe and Savinelli 2614KS. All goods smokes but the Orlik does leave more residue and require more thorough cleaning between smokes; that's probably true of most Virginias I imagine.

Now smoking year 2021 unreleased Sutliff Black Virginia Flake in a late 80's, early 90s James Upshall P DS Tilshead England Made By Hand L185 Canadian with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Tomato the Brave was waiting for me when I opened the back door, and he ate plenty of wet and dry food. After he thanked me, he went to the cardboard box and stared at me until I got out of my chair. I knew what he wanted, so he got some play time, and each time I stopped to sit down, Tomato gave me that "Whatcha stopping for, slacker? I still want to play" look. Finally, he decided to go out, which seemed make Daisy the Feral Princess happy because she looked bored watched the orange fella play. She followed him out, and the possum who was near the door ran off. I noticed that Harry the Hairy kept his distance from the possum by staying on top of the cat tree.
