Been asked to try a new blend from my local B&M after a pipe event they held. It took a few days to dry it out and now giving it a go in a great old bent billiard I got as part of a large lot of pipes I won at an auction. It’s stamped, ‘R. Kaufer’, over ‘Berlin’. Have no idea of the history, but it’s a great smoker.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2021 KBV Your Welcome in a straight smooth dark brown 1930s (Comoy’s) Canadian Club 230 eight paneled billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Have enough left for a couple more bowls or so.

Well, Success #3 - went as I thought it would. About two smokes away from being "de-mineralized" and smoking as a meer should. The meer-lined bowl is being "ghosted" for rum based tobaccos, especially my favourite in this category, Backwoods Buttered Rum. I'm not inordinately fond of aromatics, either cherry or rum based, but I do like them occasionally, and my little miniature meer is biased for cherry. Maybe four or five times a month I'll dig into an aromatic of this nature and enjoy it.

The smoke was very good, and I could tell that I was smoking Backweeds and not one of the other variations on the theme that are buried in my two stash drawers. I also have a buttered rum that I smoke occasionally that I put together with a mix of Smokers' Pride Rum Tobacco and a mix of Black Cavendish. Slows the burn rate of the basic tobacco considerably, and tastes pretty good even if I do say so myself. My buddy Mike sucks it up like there's no tomorrow, so it'll see some use in the meer bowl as well on my behalf.

Ended the break-in ordeals with a bowl full of Pirate Kake, which by this time was balm for my tongue. Smoked it in my Brigham Tundra Rhodesian. I'll spend the next couple of days with cigars and chew, giving the abused organ and my lips a hiatus. Not that I have tongue bite this time, I don't. but I think my tastebuds need a restoration job, eh? Here's my Brigham Tundra Rhodesian, a wonderful smoker (pretty cheap - guys looking for a stellar travel pipe should look in this direction).

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a year 2021 straight black sandblasted Peterson Ragaire 150 bulldog with an unmounted army mount tapered acrylic cumberland fish tail stem. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave couldn't wait to come inside to eat. Harry the Hairy is eating outside. Watching Mad Dog Russo now that I have the time to do so.

My second bowl of MacBaren Golden Extra in my Grabow Starfire diamond shanked, straight billiard sitter. Shape #691.
As I expected, this second bowl tastes much better to me than did the first, which was ok, but seemed more bland the first time. A great day starter tobacco. I will experiment with adds for a stronger, later in the day smoke, including perique, and or some Big 'n Burley.

I nodded off posting that last evening I enjoyed Ryback to back in a Lee medium saddle stem pear.

The Pipes by Lee I have all have chambers a hair larger than my preferred size, so I may actually become a “dedicator” with them, as the highly affordable faster, cooler burning shags bring them right to the duration I prefer for my style.
caveat: the pipes may be somewhat dedicated to the blend/cut, but the blend/cut won’t be limited to the pipes😉
