Near the last third of this bowl of year 2016 D&R Two Timer Gold in a straight, black sandblasted pre-1970 Comoy’s Sunrise Etched Grain straight Liverpool 309 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Watching an interview with the late actor Jack Riley, who played Mr. Carlin on The Bob Newhart Show.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum of the Basil Rathbone blend. Time to check on the ferals.

By the way, it has a tiny rhinocerous stamped on the left hand side of the stem. Can anyone identify the maker from this, please?
It looks like the stem is from another pipe. If the rhino is on the stem, it's likely a Kiko stem. The stummel, is what is not looking like typical Kiko Meer, is probably some other manufacturer's briar. Kiko stems in my experience are good quality vulcanite.

I cleaned up the Grabow Starfire a neighbor gave me yesterday, a diamond shanked, wire rusticated, sitter, billiard and am burning some Match Sunrise (Elizabethan, which I've never had).
I noticed that the hand feel of this pipe was similar to my Westbrook Grabows, of which I have 3, and did a little investigating. It seems that both the Starfire and the Westbrook models were from the same grade of briar. Interesting read if only anecdotal. Just received today in the mail from SPC a Savinelli Trevi Rusticated 320 6mm. I wanted to start trying out filters, because the roof of my mouth keeps getting irritated, so I’m hoping this will help. To start with I bought some Savinelli balsa filters, and Vauen charcoal. I want to get White Elephant meerschaum filters later, as I’ve been told they don’t mute the flavors.

The inaugural smoke will be John Aylesbury - Sir John's Flake Virginia, while watching Star Trek Discovery on Paramount +. 🍿 🎥 🤓

I love Sci Fi! 🚀 🪐 👨‍🚀

Be well everyone! 🤙 ❤️

@newbroom The stummel is a meer, not a briar - but looking at it, I can see how the stem is slightly narrower than the shank, even though the thread on the tenon fits the mortice perfectly. Since I last posted, I've discovered that the little rhino logo on the stem represents the Makonde series of the Kikos made by the Kilimanjaro Pipe Company, but I've looked extensively and failed to find any Rhodesian style stummels produced by them... so you are absolutely right: what I've gotten here, is a mule :-/ It gives me a really nice smoke, though :)
