My shipment just arrived, unpacked some of my older pipes to enjoy with these new tobaccos, a vodka cranberry and listen to the World Series while my bride roast a whole chicken. Nice way to end the day to end the day
Next smoke is a switch back to SG’s cabbie’s mix In the Castello #33 virgin. Cabbie’s and St James are two completely different VaPers with St James being deep virginias with that very rich stewed fruit flavour, no grass or hay at all and the Perique being figs and plumbs maybe but the spice is very subtle. Cabbie‘s Virginia’s are lighter with bread and baked goods notes, sweeter with faint grass/hay notes and the Perique has much more spice, it’s quite forward. Some have said the Lakeland essence is creeping into Cabbie’s, I sure don’t get that at all. Both cracking good tobaccos, both wet as a fish (you have to dry these suckers right out) and they age like fine wine.
Now smoking KBV Pork Chops & Apple Sauce 2022 (Limited Edition) in a 1970s medium bend brown Caminetto 205 Business egg with a long black acrylic saddle stem. This will get me to dinner time. Working on a review of this blend, which doesn't have the toppings that the earlier versions did.
Finishing off a tin of St Bruno Flake in a Kaywoodie Silhouette billiard. It's a little chilly in Northern NJ and I'm really enjoying being out on the balcony with a pipe.
KBV Mycroft in a Aldo Velani Titan….first Time smoking this, just arrived. perfect out of the pouch, totally enjoying this….Listening to the World Series. Vodka cranberry, smelling roasted chicken from the kitchen.
Haven't been reaching for anything other than Carolina Red Flake 2020 vintage, folded and stuffed, in a Alexander Hasty sandblasted billiard. I hope that everyone has been having a great weekend.
Lane 1-Q that sat in the Savinelli Dry System 2614KS for two days because I didn't get to it until today. It tasted a little stronger and smokier for drying out longer. Thoroughly enjoyable with subtle sweetness and great aftertaste. The Sav 2614KS bought in the early 80's is one of my favorite pipes. Still looks fairly new too. The rim has never charred or gotten stained ... can't understand that but I like it !
On to the KBV butterfluff in a cob. Awesome, love these two blends. Having a good time listening to the World Series, I do enjoy listening over watching, getting my second highball….very nice evening
