I smoked some Elizabethan for the first time this weekend. Just excellent. As good as Escudo but a bit different. I want to say creamy? I don’t have JimInks palate but that’s the best word I can come up with.

I like it a lot as well. Very well-behaved and easy-going. I have yet to try Escudo but it's on my hit list.

Try the bulk Sutliff Victorian if you haven't. It's based on the old Murray's version of Elizabethan, and you may like it.

Yep, the wife has me holiday menu planning already for Thanksgiving since I’m sitting on the deck and not shoveling rocks and leveling earth and we know our girls’ returning home schedules, myself having only returned home this afternoon, lol. Update on the upcoming Christmas pipe earlier in the week has me excited so celebrating Christmas and Halloween with ‘21 Watch City Rougaroux in the J. Everett (@cramptholomew) Christmas Carol - best I’ve ever packed this pipe and it’s a dream! She did bake some incredible apple cider/caramel cookies!!!!

I think for me it’s the kindest, easiest to smoke Virginia in my rotation. I just stuff it in the pipe with abandon, it’s very forgiving as far as technique goes and it’s on the mild side unless puffed aggressively. I’ve fallen in love with the stuff but I know it’s not for everyone. You’ve got to love Virginia’s and shag. It breaks in a pipe sweet too and the price is more than fair, 5lbs for $90. It comes dry, sometimes too dry but I rehydrate it without detriment. I gravitate towards it because it’s easy for me I think but I’m a creature of habit.
