Definitely looks smarter than this typical Peterson 'Tankard' from the late 1970s

Regarding clay pipes with other stems: there's a long history of same and not just when the owner broke his clay and was loath to chuck it so he had a mount fitted and a stem added usually of horn or vulcanite/ebonite and hey presto he had a working pipe again ...
A trio of examples of clays with once broken stems

Other clays were actually made to have stems of other materials fitted ...
A couple of examples

Not forgetting the socket clay - again specifically designed to carry stems of other materials but without the metal mounts ...

For complex reasons all Esoterica tobacco is considered as Unicorns, and is very hard to acquire.
Esoterica Margate is comparatively easier to obtain, but still very much a Unicorn. With a lot of patience, (and some luck) I have been able to cellar a fair amount of Esoterica Margate. Incidentally it is my most favorite Balkan/English Blend.

Today I opened a 8 oz Bag of Esoterica Margate from my cellar. It is divine! (Not because it is better/different from other blends - but because it is my favorite)

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken and snow peas dinner with a small scoop of chocolate chip mint ice cream with a few sliced strawberries on top. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. I'm part way through this bowl of aged Rattrays Hal O’ The Wynd in a straight smooth brown pre-1952 (Comoy’s) Corinthian De-Luxe 126 pot made for Sutliff in San Francisco with a black tapered vulcanite stem. This pipe is one of my favorite pots. Watching the Braves-Astros game.
