Part way through this bowl of Wilke No. 44 in a 1970s slight bend black sandblasted English Rustic 120S Billiard (Comoy’s second) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Listening to The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes starring Rathbone and Bruce on the XM. Going back to work in a couple of minutes.

Did a little snacking, and am half way through this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.P. Rimboche in a smooth dark brown, medium bend late 1950s Parker Super Bruyere 45 with a “4” in a circle billiard with a black vulcanite tapered stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Getting ready to watch So Proudly We Hail, one of the very few movies George Reeves was in that I haven't seen. Reeves always said that director Mark Sandrich promised to make him a star after this movie was made, but Reeves went into military service. While he served his country, Sandrich died, and there went Reeves' career. Reeves used to say "If Mark Sandrich hadn't died, I wouldn't stuck wearing this monkey (Superman) suit." Reeves may not have had the career he wanted, but those who loved the old Superman TV show will always fondly remember him. It's too bad that Reeves didn't live to gain the perspective that time would have allowed him to appreciate all the fans - young and old - who loved him.

My morning smoke will be Solani 633 in my favorite tasting pipe, my Paolo Becker 2013 Morta Canted Dublin w/ beautiful ring blast grain. This is my first go around with "the Champagne of Virginias" and I want the taste to be clean.

My second smoke of the day will be KBV Jupiter Slices in my MM Devil Anse.

What is that bent black tube coming out of the top of the pipe for?
Your guess is as good as mine :) . . . it's but one example of the weird and wonderful creations the pipe makers of yesteryear created with the aim of producing 'the perfect smoke' and many makers tried something new which they patented. We all know about the Peterson System and maybe the "Masta" but details of most of the others have been lost in the mists of time.
