Was surprised by my wife with a Smoking Pipes 25th anniversary Ropp author with horn stem, number 53 of 80. Those things sold out pretty fast, so i was disappointed not to get one. She bought it back in September and gave it to me today for my birthday. Christened it with some Quiet Nights on this chilly evening. A great smoke!

The Saturday afternoon ZOOM meeting with my good pipe buddies provided the usual jovial conversation and warm camaraderie as an alternative to the driving snowstorm outside my window. I smoked my Castello Sea Rock 49 KKKK filled with McClelland's Samovar. A mug of Barrie House Columbian black coffee was my beverage.

The next is a Dunhill Millennium Classic Series straight billiard (top)

With the last of the 2:2:1 home blend of Esoterica Tilbury, C&D Red Ribbon and SG Perique

A nice smoke - definitely much better than from yesterday’s tall billiard. But not as nuanced as from the pot.
The chamber diameter of this pipe is midway between the 2 pipes used yesterday.
Put me in the camp of wider bowls for more complex blends

One other variable in yesterday’s smokes is the cleanliness of the pipe. The tall billiard definitely needed a deep clean.
I will report on how well it smokes now that I have reamed the bowl, scrubbed out the shank and stem and given it all an alcohol soak

Beautiful pipe! I would put a slight bend on the stem, i think it will make it even better.
@Dshift Thanks! Interesting idea, and I do like a bent stem. This one actually does have a very slight bend, which may not be obvious from the earlier photo. Here is a close up to illustrate:

This pipe is also in my profile photo, with my childhood Stomper Semi!

Now, do I understand you correctly, that additional bend can be implemented on an acrylic stem? Not that I would try something so outrageous at home (he says as thoughts ricochet about his mind ...) . I noticed you doing some pipe restoration in one pic -- are you a pipe maker? Forgive me if that's something everyone already knows ... I'm just not in the know! LOL 😻 -Tim

GLP Cumberland in the NoNameDane.
Everybody is settled in for the evening. I had to herd half a dozen quail out of the ladies’ house, they keep coming in for the scratch and finding themselves unable to figure out where the door is.

Earlier this morning on my 60th birthday had some Milan’s Our Carter Hall in a Moretti 55 with black coffee.

Had a great Thanksgiving with my wife’s extended family at a lake house on Grand Lake in Oklahoma. Smoked a ton with my wife’s uncle, mostly out of my clay. Uncle Jim was mostly smoking grape and blueberry swisher sweets. I was smoking my 1Q/BLWB mix, my VaPer mix, and From Beyond. Also burned some Last Call Habanos and a Nub habano with Jim.
Happy thanksgiving everybody, I’m grateful for this forum. The pic is of the Pete 338 I bought at the Texas Pipe show, pretty sure it had some From Beyond in it at the time of the pic. IMG_9869.jpeg

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Fed all the ferals. Daisy the Feral Princess stayed in while the others went out. Daisy must be in a good mood today. She only hissed once at Norton the Nosey. Norton is still snoozin'.
