Tonight I drove up to an area of Texas that is a known "Dark Skies" area -- good for stargazing. 🌠 It's near Quanah, TX, about 3 hours NW of DFW. Well, they are not kidding; I've never seen so many stars. Turns out there're a lot of 'em out there! 😆 Sorry my pictures are terrible -- only had my phone. Really incredible night sky ... you'll have to take my word for it, ha ha.

I packed along a bowl of Peretti Cuban Mixture in the V.F. Cherrywood Morta. I'm so glad I pre-loaded the pipe, 'cause it's windy and cold (and dark) out here -- around 38 degrees. 🥶 I love C.M., but with the cold and wind, sadly it's not the most enjoyable smoke ...

Here are some poor photos. My apologies for taking up so much room, but I can't resize/organize them on my phone browser -- that only works on the computer for me.

And I'm starting my 3+ hour drive home! 😻

Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am passing the half way mark of this bowl of year 2021 first production Watch City Simply Orange Virginia in a black sandblast medium bend Peterson POTY 4AB No. 182/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Downloading and labeling at least a 100 photos. The rain stopped and the ferals went back out.

Almost a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2016 D&R Two Timer Gold in a straight, black sandblasted pre-1970 Comoy’s Sunrise Etched Grain straight Liverpool 309 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Hope to end the day with this smoke. Going to check on the ferals after I post this smoke.

Peterson just dropped the new Cobble series. They went all-in trying to nail that raw, early-20th-century English blast look, but cranked the texture up to proper “rough-as-hell” levels. Reworked the rustication and blasting process from the ground up — serious changes, but the end result is spot-on. “Cobble” isn’t just marketing fluff — the finish really does look like the old cobblestone streets around Dublin and the rest of Ireland that inspired the line. Definitely worth a look if you’re into rugged blasts.IMG_6605.jpegIMG_6606.jpeg

Peterson Christmas 2012 (x105).
Robert McConnell Ready Rubbed
Profile: Virginia-forward
Cut: Ready rubbed (broken flake)
Components: Virginia, Burley
This blend is based on the classic 1979 Dunhill Ready Rubbed. The backbone is made up of well-matured Virginias, nicely rounded out with quality African Burley. There’s a soft, pleasant nutty note in the flavor. The look of the tobacco also stays true to the old-school classic. Solid blend — definitely not my first tin, and for sure not my last.

Went to Pipe Night in Akron, it was a lot of fun hanging out with likeminded folks. While there I enjoyed a bowl of C&D Borboun Bleu in a brand new (I can't help it) Rossi Antico Rhodesian, and then a pipe of Warped Until The End in a Savinelli Rusticated Pot. Good smokes and good times all around.
Abe, can you send us a photo of the new Rossi??

Enjoyed some low calorie snacking, and am half way through this bowl of year 2019 C&D Yorktown in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Terracotta 4AB No.108/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. It started raining hard, and I opened the door for Tomato the Brave. I dried him off and he was very happy about it. I called and called for Harry the Hairy and Daisy the Feral Princess, but neither came to me. I believe that they were under the deck. A couple of minutes later, I saw the motion light on, and Daisy was at the door. She was soaking wet, and was very patient and pleased that I dried her off. Harry showed up a couple of minutes later, and I dried him off, too. That took longer because he has such a thick coat. The ferals never argue with me when it comes to drying the rain off of them. There's nothing like deep trust between people and pets.

Boy, Jim, you are so right about that deep trust between people and pets. It's special. Thanks for the reports.
