Morning Smoke with Mike: fired up my
Lubinski Olive Military Mount with
Brigham English Mix, a barnburner if you like a stiff English. Its called Mr B's English up here, and is available at our local outlet. All fine by me, and I had a great smoke. A short but perhaps interesting
Skippable Drivel below the picture.
Skippable Drivel: Correction - in my shambled mood and picture of my morning festivities, I accidentally put my Ashwood McQueen Russet in place of my cherrywood version. I did smoke my Cherrywood with the Sav 140 - but I put it back in the top drawer rather than on the deskrack where it should of gone. Sorry about that. All of my ash pipes are biased for Lats, so I'm glad that I double checked my post, because I would have had a miserable smoke if I had smoked the Sav 140 in a lat pipe.
I noticed, after I gave yesterday's Kewpie to a new thread follower, that his pipe very much resembled my Lubiniski. Prabably why it struck me as quite stunning. I did some research on the company this past while.
Founded in 1962 in Poland by Lubinski himself, it is a premium pipe company whose products are not really cheap. On average, 3 - 4x the price of Mr. Brogs. And much more traditional in their design for the most part.
I'm left wondering, at the price I paid for it (in the $45 Canadian range) that my pipe is a knockoff from the east. As a matter of fact, I'd bet money on it.
However, it smokes very well indeed, it has a most interesting piece of olivewood, and it is one of the easiest pipes I have to clean, matched only by my two Falcons. Just love Military Mounts! So, all's well. Maybe one day I'll get the real thing, but not today. I need another pipe like I need another hole in my head.
