Half way through this bowl of year 2020 D&R VIP in a 2004 smooth long shank Trever Talbot Ligne Bretagne Faite en Bretagne 4/3 lumberman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. The stray tried to jump on my chair, but Sleepy Suzy is by my side, and she didn't approve of it. After following us around any time we move, he just settled on m'lady's lap. The tyke sure can meow!

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2014 Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special 301 T.V.F. Made in England EXEL billiard with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

My entire experience with Pesse Canoe ended with the Pesse Canoe – Vanilla, which actually came as a gift with one of my orders. The blend itself sounds promising — Virginia, Burley (Adiyaman), and Oriental (Yayladag, Bitlis, Izmir). But, good Lord, why over-aromatize it like that? 🤦🏼‍♂️ The heavy dessert flavor completely overwhelms the natural qualities of the tobaccos.

@Benedict Munsinger Oh man, I totally understand, your experience with the Pesse Canoe Vanilla was less-than-stellar. Ugh, sorry. 👎 This Purple Pearl Flake is, so far, my only experience with the brand, so unfortunately I cannot compare.

I can say, I find the fruity topping on the Purple Pearl Flake very light, and not at all sweet -- really quite pleasant. I have a feeling, based on your description, that the Pearl Series is a very different animal from the Ribbon Series - Vanilla, but again, I cannot be certain of that in any way, shape, or form.

I also have tins of the other Flakes in the Pearl Series -- Neon and Blue. But, I have yet to crack them open.

I will of course be giving my "thoughts" about those once I begin smoking them. 😻

Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and am near the last third of this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 1984 medium bend black grain etched Savinelli Non Pareil 9310 pokerish dublin with a horn ferrule and a black vulcanite flared stem. It was hard to eat with the skinny l'l tyke continually trying to eat my food with me. I give him a lot of credit for stubbornness. He purrs an awful lot, too. A little while ago, I was wondering why he kept going to the bathroom and looking around. When m'lady was washing her face at the sink, he jumped up and started to drink the water. We realized that he didn't know that the water bowl was next to the dry food bowls. I picked him up and took there, and he drank a lot. Right now, he's trying to knock my hands away from the computer so that I'll love on him some more. He'll get his wish in a minute. I have to laugh because he's sitting on the arm of the chair with his paws on my left arm just purring away.

Near the first quarter of this bowl of year 2016 Newminister 400 Superior Navy Flake in a straight smooth brown year 1948 Parker Super Bruyere patent 23 88/F bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Harry the Hairy came in to eat, and it was tough keeping the skinny fella from bothering him. I spent the last fifteen-twenty minutes playing traffic cop between the two and breaking up confrontations. Harry did get to eat, and when he went to the den to love on a catnip sock, skinny boy came over and stuck his nose on the side of Harry's head. To Harry's credit, he did his best to take the high road every time which shows me that he has changed a bit from the old days. Harry ran under m'lady's chair and didn't come out until I had skinny boy on my lap. I tried to give Harry some attention, but he was so nervous that all he wanted to do was to go outside. Not sure how it's going to go when it's wet food time for Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave. I guess I'll shut the tyke up in the bathroom while they eat.

@JimInks This is all too exciting for words with the new little guy in town. I (and I'm sure others) anticipate what he may end up being called, assuming he sticks around. I imagine you take your time and go with something personality-based. I'm hoping (but certainly not suggesting) for something other than "skinny boy"? 😻 ha ha
I have a name for him, I think. What I don't know is if we will/can keep him. He's a good fella, but like Harry the Hairy, he has no social skills with other cats which is causing some trouble. We're afraid to let him out of the house right now because he doesn't know where he is, and I dunno what would happen if we let him out. He might get hurt by another animal or get lost and not know how to come back to this house. Dunno what to think about it at the moment, but after Abner the Eager disappearing, it's hard deciding on his future.

Yes, I think the main issue might be the base leaf itself. Virginia and Burley grown in Turkey tend to have slightly lower quality compared to other regions — mostly due to local soil and climate conditions. From what I understand, Pesse Canoe emphasizes that all their tobaccos are 100% Turkish-grown, which is interesting, but also limits the range of flavor nuances they can achieve. That said, I’m sure there might be some successful blends in their line-up.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion and by no means do I intend to impose it on anyone.🤝
P.S. However, it's impossible not to note that Turkish Orientals are excellent in their own right—they truly dominate pipe tobacco production. Basma, Izmir, and Samsun are all superb varieties with a rich aromatic profile.
