Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia again this morning, in a Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman this time.

This blend seems to smoke just as well in a cob as it does in briar, though today I'm getting less dark breadiness and more green tea notes. It's still very tasty though and probably the first Virginia blend I've enjoyed enough to want to continue smoking after the first bowl. I'm sure the fact that it hasn't bit my tongue at all helps quite a bit too. I don't know if I like it enough to make it a part of my regular rotation, but it certainly is pleasant! I did have to stop smoking after 20 minutes or so though, since the nicotine hit of this blend felt really strong today. All in all it was a fine enough smoke, though I'm not sure I find the flavors of Virginia tobaccos to be terribly exciting on their own without some sort of topping or condimental tobacco added. I'm probably more of an aromatic and Burley blend kinda guy.

Glad it is working for you! The HH Pure Virginia really is a fantastic tobacco, imho. Next on your journey to the Va Side, may I suggest Sutliff 507C Virginia Slices, which I call "Slices of Heaven"... puffy

Having @Humblepipe ’s 8 Days in a Kaufmann Bros. & Bondy (KB&B, a precursor to Kaywoodie) Gutta-percha Eagle Claw with Briar screw-in bowl, and orific bit, circa 1930s or earlier. This pipe is relatively large, measuring 10.5" diagonally from the stem tip to front claw.

For scale, here it is next to a Savinelli Series III 320 KS Author, and my smallest Gutta-percha KB&B Eagle Claw pipe (2.5"):
