Opened a tin of 2015 ODF tonight. I love Burley Flake but have never tried its cousin. Interesting dynamics upon opening. There was an air gush and the tobacco is incredible, but the rim of the tin is rusty and there were some marks on what is usually a gorgeous golden wrapper. Anyone seen this before? I would have thought the tobacco would have been dried out, but it’s a thing of beauty. IMG_5363.jpegIMG_5364.jpegIMG_5366.jpeg

I have seen that type of staining before on the paper liners of tins of tobacco that have been aged for several years in the tin. Most of the time, it is a good sign of a well aged tobacco. However I have also seen rust develop on the tin, which can impart a bad taste to the tobacco. As long as the seal remains intact, and no air gets in, the tobacco is usually fine. Looks like a fine well-aged tin to me. How does it taste?

This evening I am smoking some Fribourg & Treyer Special Brown Flake, which I find to be quite enjoyable!
