Thank you. I was only maybe 27 at the time and knew nothing about pipes, other than I wanted to smoke one and I was a woodworker. The shaping leaves a bit to be desired, but by God I made one !

Ending the month in style. I was lucky enough to jump on a 16 pipe estate listing that included stands, humidors, etc. Guy was selling his deceased Dad’s collection. There were a couple of Dunhills, Petersons, Comoys and the like. Then, there was a few real gems, ones that I’ll be keeping. The first I’ve just restored is a Calich W477. This, according to Steve at Reborn is the 4th pipe made is 1977 from a legend of Canadian hand made pipes. The W stands for freehand. My inaugural smoke tonight with some WCC #558!!

Sticking with Pease Cumberland, now in a Ceppo with a bit of Ferrand Ambre Cognac on the side. This Ceppo had a nice contrast stain on it when new, but seems to be fading. Never seen that happen.

I couldn't think of a French tobacco to break in my new Ropp/Nuttens cutty that arrived yesterday, so I'm having some Tabac Manil Réserve du Patron, in honour of Bruno's home country Belgium. There's something magical going on here. Could be the age on the tobacco, but it tastes different in this fresh pipe. I'm getting hardly any vegetativeness. It's almost a little fruity. No broccoli flavour at all.

Just finished smoking KBV Prince of Wales in a straight smooth terracotta 2014 Sherlock Holmes Baker Street bulldog with sterling silver band and a tapered black p-lip stem. Going to make this a Peterson evening since I've been on that road most of the day.
