1/2 bowl CS Old Toby in Irish Second Hungarian with wide comfort saddle stem after reaming and cleaning bowl a second time, as well as removing rim char and oiling and waxing stummel ... most of the 40 year Balkan ghost is gone and the pipe smokes very nicely now but has a very wide open draw like a corncob. Chamber is actually 19mmx38mm ... I stated 17.5x37.5 incorrectly before. Its difficult to slow sip as the stem and draft hole are so open. But I'll figure it out eventually.
First smoke of 2018 Tordenskjold Virginia Slices in a Former Apple. This gets mixed reviews and I can see why as the perique is very light, but present. VaPer enthusiasts could leave wanting more and Straight VA smokers won't like the addition. Really enjoying this one and looking forward to letting the tin breathe:
Part way through this bowl of year 2020 Sam Gawith Best Brown Flake in a straight smooth brown 1933-1945 Comoy’s patent Grand Slam 159 *4 apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
Seeing the the mention of Sam Gawith, I am smoking their Full Virginia Flake in a 1920 Peterson 01 with extra long stem. It's a recently complete refurbish of bowl (bought only) and finally finding replacement stem. Looks wild but is truly an amazing smoke.
Enjoyed a tasty Jazz apple, and have passed the first third of this bowl of year 2022 Mac Baren Burley London Blend in a smooth medium bend 2011 Rinaldo Collection Fiammata Silver Line 7 Odea 04 flame grain bulldog with a silver band and a tortoise shell acrylic saddle stem. Watching a Jimmy Wakely western.
About a quarter of a bowl left of year 2014 Full Virginia Flake in a slight bend 1968 group 4S Dunhill Shell 475 cherrywood with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Fed the ferals, did the dishes, and cleaned some pipes.
