***What Are You Smoking, November 2022?***

Mix of Newminster 400 Navy Flake and Lane Limited 1-Q packed fairly tight in my K&P Aran 68 Irish Made Army which I bought in 1982 at the Owl Shop in Worcester, Mass. I believe it is one of the original re-issues (1980) of this shape from the old catalogs. It is 1/4 inch shorter stem than my Vauen bent egg and my Savinelli 2614KS and has a 20mmx40mm chamber. Very nice, very dry smoke ... no moisture in bowl or stem afterwards; burned to the bottom - no dottle, all ash. Slow sipped entire bowl.

 

[The Clay King]

Nah, not at all. I could've been much smarter and more precise with it.
To me it's already a pretty damn good smoke but all in all it's nothing. You can't taste the work behind it.
I'll take more flakes and add them to this current blend but the saucing is the matter.
Lacking flavor, not enough "finesse" behind it.


One can perform culinary miracles with a Dutch oven. Even just meat, onions, broth, some veggies and spices that are cooked in it for a while can produce one hell of a dish.

@Chaukisch Good to hear about your work on the "Clay King ". Does it mean it didn't turn out as you wanted it to?
I thought you might have been able to taste the honey and lemon in the mead soaked Gold Lemon Virginia.
What do you think the "Clay King " blend needs?
It has to be well suited to the King's Clay

I'll post my family's Armenian potato salad recipe later. The preview is boiled potatoes that are then chilled and served cold with onions, olive oil, lemon juice and parsley.

Light, fresh, refreshing, and a bit tart, it hits the spot all year long.

Dunhill Flake in an 1891 BBB w/ Amber Spigot. Time was not kind to this pipe so Ryan Alden fixed the spigot mount. The silver was chewed like a dog toy. Ryan used a stainless tenon and delrin insert to make this pipe sing.
