There are some pipes that, despite not being the most expensive or most prestigious, tend to be magnificent smokers. That's the case with my old Frank Medico with the Rock Ambera stem.
The "rock ambera" stem was a type of faux amber that sort of feels like stone. Also, it says "Filter Pat.Pend", which means it's a pre-1933 pipe too. I haven't figured out an earliest date for this pipe yet, but I think it's likely 1927. So it's between 1927-1933.
I don't know what exactly is the reason, but out of all the pipes I smoke regularly, this one is the best. I think older pipes just seem to have that special quality. It always burns down to ash; always smokes dry; just always gives a perfect smoke. Plus I really love the feel of the rock ambera stem.
I'm smoking some EMP from it this morning.

Been busy getting important stuff done, and while I was at it, I smoked the last of this first production tin (2013) of Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Have another ready to open tomorrow.

Just finished cleaning & polishing 24 of the collection. Rewarding myself with the last bowl of G&H Kendal Flake in this Peterson Aran billiard. Just can’t decide whether this tobacco is 3 or 4 star in my rating system? I know I’m pretty sad that it’s gone - but eager to try Louisiana Flake as that’s the one on deck to replace it. 85FCBBC1-81F3-4547-A6FD-383E57726ADE.jpeg
