Some SG Brown No. 4 in a drying bowl, for later. I've just smoked a bowl of their Black XX, and I have to say it knocks the GH twists into a cocked hat. It had great taste without the cloying sweetness of Black Irish. It was also as strong as the Brown Irish, so I'm wondering just how strong this Brown No. 4 is going to be.IMG_20211105_193708_4~2.jpg

Ashton Gold Rush in a Savinelli Miele 611 KS Bent Dublin. Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, Dark-eyed junco, Oak titmouse, California towhee, White-breasted nuthatch, Mountain chickadee, Common raven, Northern flicker, White-crowned sparrow, Chipping sparrow, and House finch. The usual suspects. Preparing to entertain some guests, one of whom is a cigar smoker (a rarity for me). Should be fun. Shabbat shalom everyone!
I bought some Gold Rush not too long ago but haveyet to try it. Hell, with all I have on hand it could be 10 years before I get to it. What do you think of it?

Gold Rush is excellent. @anotherbob and I both sing high praises for it, and often. It's just a really flavorful, enjoyable loose cut VA. The other thing I love about it is how well-behaved it is in the bowl, especially for a VA. The whole Ashton blend line is super affordable. Highly recommend this one, definitely crack that tin and give 'er a go! Great on a warm day with a beer.

Edit: ~20 mins. of dry time is essential, FYI.

Smoking Half & Half in Vauen Gap. It does not exist in Israel. Read and heard so much about it, that I had to try it (don't smoke a whole lot of aromatics. Also not so big on burley blends). Have to say I like it. A bit on the mild side but really nice. I can see why it's been around for so long. It reminds be a bit of a Hooka tobacco I smoked when I was younger.
