The final bowl from an early 2000’s tin of Fox Provost Mixture in this Carey billiard. What an enjoyable old style tobacco - from one of the classic tobacconists. Won’t be a reorder, but wouldn’t refuse a tin, or a bowl, in the future. Opens a slot in my “12 open blends” rotation. I see some cellar hunting on today’s calendar! 504DDF6F-02EF-4BB8-BAAD-BE2A93C23024.jpeg

Never got back to sleep, so I'm abut half way through this bowl from a first production tin (2013) of Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style.

Nothing cooking yet today, but last night it was a sophisticated (discontinued) blend meets a U.S. traditional factory pipe, with McC's Dark Star packed in a Yello-Bole Checker pot panel. The two were a perfect pairing. I didn't get to buy and smoke my Veterans Day cigar, since my wife and I were on a medical errand for her; as they say of bar patrons, we closed the place. All is well.

You smoke an unfinished Sav quite often (I think you have more than one) . Questions- How long have you had them and how long before they start to become noticeably darker?
Yes, I have two unfinished 644's, a 645, two 506's, and an unfinished Apple I don't remember the shape number of. I really enjoy the '44's and the'45. They are Burley pipes for me. The Apple is reserved for English blends. I'm still trying to figure out what the 506's do best. Perhaps Virginias. For me, they start to darken almost right away. I purchased all of them in the last eighteen months.

Thanks for the info
I’ve never owned an unfinished pipe or a Savinelli for that matter.
But I’ve been looking at the 816 KS
