Inspector Frederick Aberline! If that pipe could talk we'd probably find out who the ripper was. I recall you mentioning this pipe before so lovely to see it having an airing. That pipe needs it own thread Simon!Just drinking my Saturday morning cup of Expresso and smoking a bowl of Coniston Cut Plug 2019 in my 'Jack the Ripper' pipe owned by the detective who led the hunt for the White Chapel Murderer in 1888. The other pipe in the back ground is a more recent addition to my collection from a forum member in Greece. I don't smoke this historical pipe very often as it forms a pair of pipes that are sort of beyond replaceable. I have often thought that if the 'Ripper' himself had smoked a pipe what sort of blend would he have smoked? Probably something that ended with the word 'Slices' no doubt?

Either way, I’m glad you’re posting on here. Great pics!I keep wondering…. am I typing out the tobacco and pipe for those who can’t see pictures, or am I posting pictures for those who can’t read?

@Morrison Jeremiah I'm glad you're enjoying it. Nice pipe!Definitely enjoy it thanks.
I'm surprised that it seems to be breaking in the more I smoke it.
From what I had read, clay pipes don't need any breaking in.
Or maybe I'm just getting used to it. I've only had it a few weeks.
Purchased from a family memberThat’s very cool indeed. How did you establish the provenence of the pipe?
I don't take it out very often - the pipe I mean. I have a pair of them, both meerschaums, acquired from the same source. Sadly I missed out on buying his wallet, cigar case and warrant card which went to a collector in the U.S for mega bucks. I also have that cased meerschaum pipe owned by the winner of the Kentucky Derby with a letter from the Great Grand Son of the same name - that one only cost me $50.00. I posted about it on here once and someone came up with a load of interesting information on the guy as he died so young!Inspector Frederick Aberline! If that pipe could talk we'd probably find out who the ripper was. I recall you mentioning this pipe before so lovely to see it having an airing. That pipe needs it own thread Simon!
As to what blend old Jack smoked, I've often pondered that myself. Bearing in mind the old east end would of stank of horse shit & fanny by gaslight, a pungent aromatic would of been his preference during the night times shenanigans.
Faulkners Nose Gay being the popular aromatic of the time, I reckon he smoked that.
