Now smoking year 2016 Peter Heinrichs Special Curly in a straight smooth brown 1950s The Saint James London Pipe (Comoy’s second) 185M billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Haven' smoked this blend or pipe lately. Same goes for my last smoke. All the ferals have been fed.

First pipe in a few days, Mac Baren Virginia Flake in a MM Dagner Poker. Finding I don't need to quite dry this blend to mid-July Sahara Desert crispness that I tend to do for most VAs. Tasty goodness! Happy to have two pounds of this in the cellar. 9.5/10

Bird report: Hairy woodpecker, California towhee, White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, California scrub-jay, Mountain chickadee, Northern flicker, American crow, Steller's jay, Spotted towhee, and White-breasted nuthatch.

Shabbat shalom!

Digging through stuff in the upstairs bonus/storage area and found two 500g boxes of GH I never jarred from like 2022 or 23.

So I jarred them and the leftover Kendal Flake I tossed in a cob and lit up. Yum!

Next up will be the Unscented Brown Flake. =D Probably in a meer.

Smoking Cherokee Red cut with Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture by 10% in my Dr.Grabow "Big Pipe "View attachment 349028View attachment 349027
It's really cool how you are mixing Cherokee with other blends like Elizabethan. How would you describe the result? I'm guessing that just naturally it would be like a bit of both- making the Elizabethan a bit simpler and adding flavor to the Cherokee.

I did that with American Spirit RYO Pow Wow Blend and it worked great. I was mixing it with Captain Black Gold. Pow Wow Blend adds a minty flavor and Captain Black Gold adds a sweetness and a classic pipe tobacco quality that I don't get as much with the Pow Wow Blend. I'm interested in trying some Cherokee myself, but they only come in giant 16 oz bags.

Pegasus (sample generously bestowed upon me from Pipe Club brother) in a Comoy Naked Dublin.
NOTE: Earlier in this forum, a Pipe Forum brother (and so sorry that I haven't taken the time to look back to identify him) said he lost his pipe tool while on a walk. He seemed confident that he'd find it. Holding a good thought for him (!). I have couple "standard" pipe tools, also have couple that I've easily carved from sticks picked up while walking, and they work fine. But just thought I'd pass along this info jewel:
NOTHING works any better than a standard Carpenter's Nail (!!!) for tamping, for picking ... no scoop, but no big deal. Hmm ... wonder what pipe smokers used centuries ago?
