Sitting on the back porch with Captain Black Grape. Missing the sound of frogs and crickets, I really hate this time of year.

I've got two pouches that I bought just because I saw it. I've stuck them both in carbonite mylar, mostly so they stop permeating the rest of my cellar.

That said, I've been thinking about breaking it out and desecrating a new cob.

What dimensions are we talking? I enjoy big pipes for a richer, longer smoke. anything .80 x 1.5 and above is pretty big to me. I find them easier to smoke than small pipes. I’ve yet to try a real magnum size but plan on it,.
The McQueen miniatures are uniformly 3/4" deep and 14mm in diameter.
My Ropp J05 (miniature tall bowl) has a chamber depth of 1.45 " and diameter of .65"
My Ropp J16 has a chamber depth of 1.17" and diameter of .70"

These are normal for my usual smokes. My J07 is a bit larger, but don't have the figures at hand - I'd class it as a medium bowl, the others above as miniatures or very small.

That pair shown earlier (Peterson System and Savinelly) are caverns in comparison, and I have a lot to learn about smoking them to advantage. I don't indulge in them often (once a week usually for those two) because they use much more tobacco than the smaller pipes. When I can get Smokers' Pride in bulk (Cheapest in Canada is $70 Can tax out for 12 ounces) at the Mohawk Reserve in Ontario, I use them a lot more. If you consider say, Black Frigate or Mad Fiddler, both unavailable in Canada, cost me $102.00 a tin, tax in and duty, plus shipping) you might see why I smoke the little guys.

And yes, I pay the price for Black Frigate, Mad Fiddler and Bengal Slices three times a year because if I didn't have those three, my pipe smoking might be in jeopardy. They're my favourite toaccos. Interprovincial shipping of tobacco is illegal in Canada except for the Reserve store in Ontario. They'e constantly out of stock too - not surprising.

Catching up - late morning smoke. When I bought the meer-lined Falcon bowl I had some misgivings and apprehensions, but not now. Dedicated to rum tobaccos, this bowl gives me the best smokes I've ever had from Backwoods Buttered Rum, my favourite of the breed, than in any pipe other pipe I've smoked it in. This morning was no exception. I no longer have reservations of meer-lined bowls.

Putting flame to a bowl of MacBaren BLB in. Peterson POTY 24 a heritage. A Peterson Pub pipe has been on my list for awhile Im ready for one by all means just trying to figure out what finish, Any thoughts from Pub Pipe owners on helping me make a decision?
There is/was a nice smooth oak 9mm on SP.eu. I bought the sandblast unsmoked as an estate on sale last year.
Great pipe; large capacity; takes a while to break in because of size and time required. Worth getting.
