Out of sheer boredom I smoked Sutliff 507-C in the Pete Pub in order to compare it to the Savinelli 614ks I just smoked earlier. I'm more comfortable with the Savinelli probably because its one of the first pipes I purchased. The Pete smokes very well but is twice the size and weight. The smoking is similar but the 614ks is just a bit more comfortable but also a shorter smoke. The Pub is a better pipe for all day use. The Sav is more for relaxing.

Part of the Furniture Now
Unsettling time of year. Prince George is sometimes called the Beginnings of the True North. Dusk begins about 3:00 PM and it's totally dark here now by 5:00 PM. By December 31st it'll be totally dark by 3:30 or so PM. Disorients us, because after yesterday's blizzard, lawn care is over and snow shoveling and ice underfoot begins. Dangerous and disorienting for old codgers like me.

So, getting to the point, I'm posting out of sync. This pair of smokes was actually done last night. After outdoor festivities. Either relaxation or settling jangled nerves. Whatever. The real point is that I'm becoming a real fan of meers. Shown is my "big meer" which is dedicated to orientals, and the Falcon meer-lined bowl which is dedicated to rum flavoured tobaccos. Both are outstanding smokers, and I would say broken in. Need more color, but that'll come.

What I am totally delighted with, especially the big one, is the subtlety of the different notes and tones of the orientals I smoked - the nuances were amazing. Rum bias? I can take or leave rum flavoured tobaccos, but I do like Backwoods and smoke it a few times a week. Have to. My main smoking bud, Mike, gobbles down buttered rums like they're going out of style. Self defence 'cause if he's over, house rules are that we consume my tobacco.

In any case, here is a snap of the delights of last night. Should add that the meer-lined is stellar especially in my International Falcon stem.

Today's smokes will hopefully be posted tomorrow. Or maybe by Thursday. Depends on the amount of cloud snot (that's our moniker for snow) that drops tonight and tomorrow. Lots is forecast. Might add that I'll be somewhat sloppy with my responses. Apologies.

A third of a bowl left of Watch City English Ernie-ental in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Took my Comoy Naked Briar Dublin out of the rack - a good-sized bowl, like a Stanwell 64. Not sure why it sat for a while since it was always an exceptionally good smoker. Thinking I need to live with it for a while (!!!).
NOTE: Will bring it to tomorrow night's Pipe Club. :) And to think = I was almost considering offering it up (pipe Horse Trading) for maybe my first ever Lovat until I realized my Rossi Lumberman filled that slot totally ... no Lovats, no Billiards, but so what? Got numerous Canadians with their Billiard bowls.
Anyway, now enjoying more Pegasus ... (Thanks again to BenMN, one of my Pipe Club brothers) ... so question is:
Is Pegasus REALLY this good (?), or is this enjoyment a function of the pipe? Stay tuned ...

Now smoking a bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2014 Sutliff 1849 in a medium bend smooth dark brown 1968 Barling 5631 London England TVF billiard silver spigot with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Tomato the Brave is still laying on my right foot. He moves when I get up, and when I sit back down, he puts his head back on my foot. Sleepy Suzy is still by my side. Abner the Eager is snoozin' on the couch. Daisy the Feral Princess just ate, and is laying on her blue blanket. Molly Danger is on m'lady's lap.
