Gaga & Hogwarts' "Cabbage Mischief" in a newly-acquired Royal Sovereign oval-shanked 80- Zulu (Orlik second). Cut and dried the rolls for several hours and loose packed the bowl but am left wondering what kind of flame retardant G&H use for topping. Getting used to this stuff could cost a chap a fortune in matches. It does seem to demand a different smoking technique. Cabbie's Mixture should be renamed "Cheeky Periquey" as the Perique steals all the limelight from the Virginia, which doesn't wake up until the third act/end of bowl and remember that it isn't in a supporting role, coming through a little butterscotch as the Perique retreats from full-on sauce au poivre, to brine. In this respect it reminds me of Rattray's Old Gowrie (but unfavourably). Well, I've a dozen more rolls or so to use up from this sample, so we'll see if a broader-bottomed bowl suits it better.

In recognition of my first full year of pipe smoking, Watch City's Eureka in my La Rocca basket pipe. My first blend and my first pipe. A nice smoking pipe, and this blend certainly held up well after a year. A nice blend to start a newbie on in my opinion. Though a mild aromatic I'm enjoying it quite a bit on a crisp fall day.
