Burlier Morning in a paneled Uhle’s to start Monday. View attachment 394554

Excellent photgraph. Love prairies. Mom lived on a farm 90 miles west of Winnipeg in her youth. She instilled a love of flatland in me - she always said, "To really enjoy the prairie flatland, one must look INTO them, and not OVER them." How true. Gorgeous pipe and beautifully pictured! I always look forward to flatland pictures well done! 😍 👍👍

This is a big post, sorry for clogging WAYS but I hope someone enjoys the read...

Today was a Sunday for the history books in our family! I'll start off by saying that both Hoover Dam and The Grand Canyon were on my wife's bucket list like Chichén Itzá was for me when we visited back in January. I went back and forth on having a tour bus shuttle us around or get a car for the day. After much online research 🤓 I settled on getting a car and figuring it out myself. The main reason for this was that every tour company just went to Grand Canyon West which seems to be a tourist trap and not a proper representation of the National Park.

We shuttled from the hotel to the airport for rental pickup at 7am and headed out, windows down. FYI, "Fox Rent A Car" required an additional shuttle to their location which I wasn't expecting, a minor setback on time but a hurdle we jumped with ease.

Got to Hoover Dam bright and early. We climbed the stairs to the I-11 pedestrian bridge which doubles as an observation deck of sorts. It was awesome. We then drove over the dam (something I was unaware you could do) and got closer eyes on it. My wife was ecstatic and more than pleased with the experience.

From here, we left and began the almost FOUR HOUR DRIVE to the Grand Canyon National Park South Entrance off of AZ-64. Yes, out of the way and a long haul but just wait...

IT WAS SO WORTH IT!! The pictures just don't do this place any justice. The view is nothing less than breathtaking and really shines a light on God's handiwork with the perfect forming of our world. It's like an artist took a paintbrush to the ground. We will forever be the apologists saying you just have to go there yourself to really FEEL the scope of it.

We walked the South Rim for a couple hours till the designated time to bounce. I got to smoke some EMP in my Hillbilly which has now associated a significant memory with it, giving it a permanent fixture in my collection. It was sad to leave but knowing what we do now on the camping options in and around the park, a return trip with the kiddos will be planned.

Pit-stop for gas in Williams, AZ before the haul back to Vegas. Took a photo for some Japanese tourists at this sign and they encouraged us to pose the same as they returned the favor, ended up being a great photo.

A gorgeous sunset graced us as we exited I-40 and headed North towards Nevada.

I'm now sitting back at the hotel with some tea and 507C in my Ropp Stout watching planes land across the street. We fly home tomorrow afternoon but I'm now trying to figure out a plan for a return trip. Maybe a week-long family vacation around the 2026 Las Vegas Pipe Show 🤔

You bet I took the time to read this post. I try my best to do so whenever someone takes the time to put together a travelogue or post like this! Enjoyed it thoroughly! 😍 👍👍

First smoke of the day, GLP Cumberland in a La Strada 166. Coffee to the side and the last 60 pages of Heretics of Dune make a lovely morning to noon smoke.

I read the entire series of "Dune" novels as soon as they came out. What is not realized by most fans of the series, and should put those fans in a higher state of awareness in retrospect, is that author Frank Herbert was an extremely knowledgeable Catholic theologian, who wrote the entire series postulating what would have happened if, instead of the Messiah of Peace given to us in Jesus, the Messiah was a man of war that the Pharasees wanted before they executed Jesus.

On learning this, I re-read the entire series of six books again, and had a totally different look at this masterful writing. It is interesting to note, also, that Herbert had a breakdown after completion, and claimed in private that he became demonically possessed in the process.

Do you (or does anyone else) know if these Brulor pipes were originally drilled for a stinger? The Ropp pipes I've had were either a perfect draw or way too open because they were drilled to accommoddate a stinger. I'm afraid the answer is that some of these Brulors are drilled to accommodate a stinger and some aren't, but I figured I'd ask.

Almost recovered from this mysterious flu, I wanted to smoke today, but my sense of smell is at 5%. So I will replace tobacco with a delicious Greek yogurt, and a good read, hahahahahahahaha. I wish you a happy Monday. May God bless and protect you.View attachment 394613

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I was likewise afflicted with something that turned out to be an ear infection, now thankfully and hopefully, disappearing - about 90% recovered from taste, smell and hearing problems. Amazing how these olfactory systems are all interconnected. So I'm in complete sympathy.

This one came with a removable stinger.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and then smoked a bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Jamaican Estate Reserve, neat, is my drink. Watching the Orioles-Cardinals game.

I've also wondered what the Brulor pipes were like . . . . often thought of picking one up. Are they a subsidiary or connected with Ropp? I like their no-nonsense and straightforward styling.

First of all, wishing all my American Friends a special one on this very special day for you! Salut!

Morning Smoke: broke my preference with a cigar at the keyboard, and had a bowlful of Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish with my usual morning cold coffee, with my longish-stemmed MM minicob.

A pretty good smoke all things considered, but ya know what? I'm going to go back to the cigar, if any smoking at all at the computer. Just am NOT a regular pipe clenching type, just when doing cleanup and stuff. And because Captain Black Cherry Cavendish, and my 6 other personal favourites, are in mothballs until the planned pigout on July 4, the "cherry juice with morning cold coffee" did not have the desired over-the-top obnoxiousness of the Capt Black genre masterpiece.

There it is. Have a great day, eh?
