Buddy came over yesterday afternoon so we got to run through some things while catching up. First for me was some re-hydrated (thanks Boveda) PS Bullseye Flake in my Ropp Stout.

He gave me that cool stand at this hang out, it's also a pipe lighter and mini multi-tool!

I then packed some Horizons in my Bones Bent Apple as he hadn't tried it before.

He wasnt too fond of Horizons, dumped half of his bowl and moved to some Boswell blends.

I finished mine though and ran the evening out with an Alec & Bradley Blind Faith.

Good times...
Well done! As an occasional cigar smoker as well, it never ceases to amaze me how many pipe guys don't know about and/or just won’t use boveda for some reason. Dry as toast tobacco can be made cellared and tasty in 2 weeks to a month, depending on dryness and container size. No need to throw out (or complain about smoking) old, dry tobacco.

Well, today is a special day for me. If my dad were still living, he would be 98 years old today. Sadly, we lost him in 2014.
I do have the old 1950's era Medico pipe that he smoked when I was just a small child. It was in pretty rough shape and broken so I had it repaired and restored a few years back. Today.... on his birthday.... I am smoking it for the very first time.
I wanted to do it just like he did so I went old school. I am smoking Sir Walter Raleigh, which is all he ever smoked and I am lighting it with matches and the "tamper" is my index finger. Assisting me in this endeavor, is a Diet Coke. Finally, I reamed it out with my pocket knife. All of these things were the methods that he used. He did have a cool pipe stand that is shown in some of the photos below. He was in the U. S. Army and one of the photos below shows him wearing a hooded, water-proof coat while crossing the Atlantic aboard a ship, near the end of WWII.
Happy Birthday, Dad..... we sure miss you.

What a great gesture, and the pipe looks fantastic! Happy Birthday to your Father, and may his pipe bring you many more happy smokes.

Thanks. I actually got back into smoking with cigars at 30. Was cigarettes from 14-19 and a cousin in FL got me back with an 8-5-8 on vacation. Wife said she liked the smell in my beard later that evening and that was my golden ticket. 35 now and started with pipes a little over a year back when a long-time pastor friend suggested the cost savings in pipe tobacco. I've always been a waste not, want not kind of guy, so much so that I'll now finish an excellent cigar down to almost nothing in a cob 🤣

Hello and happy Sunday. After a nice round of sporting clays I’m smoking match victorian in an old antiquari

Envy your round of shooting clays. It's a great shooting game, I think the most fun of the clay sports. But . . . just not a moving target guy, lol. Have a venerable old Ithaca 12, which ejects from the bottom. Good gun, and yeah, I've hit a reasonable few ducks or clays, but birds of any kind, feathered or clay, stand a very significant chance of getting through unruffled with me pulling the trigger on a scattergun. But woe betide them if they're sitting still in a puddle, a gravel roadside, or on a branch and I have my .22 CZ Scout handy :ROFLMAO:
