Did a little low calorie snacking, and am smoking Wilke High Hat in an undated black sandblasted straight made in France Silvermatch Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Fed all the ferals except for the absent Abner the Eager. Molly Danger saw Harry the Hairy enter the bed room, and chased him to the den with loud shrieks. Harry was rather shaken by it, but I took a little time to reassure him that he'll be okay. Harry doesn't purr, but he has a decent motor sound when he's happy. Sleepy Suzy barely moved a muscle through the whole affair.

Almost half way through this bowl of Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked. Going to check on the ferals before I read baseball box scores. Sleepy Suzy won't like it because it means I'll wake her up when I get out of my chair.

Last smoke of the day is year 2020 H&H Chatham Manor in a straight black sandblasted, smooth dark brown top bowl 2021 Jim Brown stack Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite stem. The rain has been persistent the entire day, and still is. I let Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave in first since they get wet food as the last meal of the day. Daisy stays in the heated cat house outside, so she was dry. Tomato the Brave generally finds a dry spot, but he did need a light drying off. After they ate, I let Harry the Hairy in, and gave him some attention since he was at the door, and didn't come in when he wanted. I also dried him the rain off of him. The first time I did that made him nervous, but he's gotten used to it. I was a bit surprised that he wanted out as soon as he ate. Usually, he wants to stay in, but I figure Molly Danger is still on his mind.

Abner the Eager has gotten into the habit of needing to be picked up and brought in. Once I did that, he ate a little. The only time Abner eats a decent amount is when he's gone for a day or more. He got some love, laid on the floor for a few minutes, and then wanted back out. But, I know he appreciated the food and the attention. I'm reading baseball box scores with Sleepy Suzy by my side.

Winding down for the night with some Nightcap in a Falcon twister with a Hunter Bulldog bowl.

I'm not a regular Latakia smoker, in spite of my love of dark strong blends, I usually gravitate towards Gawith's dark fired Imperial Virginias instead. When I am in the mood for an English blend though this one is just about perfect. It's Latakia forward without being a lat bomb and the Virginias and Orientals can still be tasted in good measure, it's got a good strong Vitamin N content, is impeccably smooth and retrohale friendly, and while I often find Latakia to leave an unpleasant creosote-like coating on my tongue the Latakia in use here is very clean tasting and leaves no unpleasant aftertaste.

The only complaint I could really make is that the Perique tickles my throat a little, but that's just a minor nitpick. If you ask me Nightcap is about as close to perfection as an English blend can get. puffy

So, how is it?
It is excellent. I like Ryback on its own and the perique takes it to a new level. Great taste, no bite, and the shag cut makes for easy smoking. The nic content is perfect for me in a medium sized bowl. I did a 75/25 ratio by weight. I plan on mixing up a few 8 oz jars worth this weekend.

Solani Burley in this Family Era Barling’s Special. This is a silky smooth tobacco in my first smoke with this Caddilac of pipes. I notice how sort of even and easy it smokes. This pipe isn’t “wow” to look at but one thing I notice is how balanced it feels in my palm. It’s like a finely tailored suit.
