An Absolutely BEAUTIFUL sunny afternoon here at home. Got the lawn all cut, planted some stuff with my wife, kids were playing outside all day and getting along! Just a perfect day. Grilling some burgers now on the porch, and enjoying some OJK in my favourite pipe, and sipping on black coffee. Listening to some good tunes too. Have a wonderful Sunday my friends!

A third of the way through this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Gold Flake in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special Made in England squat dublin with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Afternoon smoke - Last night approaching the witching hour, buddy Josh popped over. He'd just got back from Mexico, knows I'm a night owl, and gifted me with a pack of tobacco. As we had already lit up late night cigars, I decided to try it today as I listened to him talk about his Mexico trip, highlight the shrine at Quito. I have many evening visits and phone calls late at night, not unusual - all my friends know I'm a serious night owl. I hardly ever crash until 1:30 or 2:00 am.

After Mass this morning, buddy Mike arrived and we gave Mexican Jungle Spirit Vanilla a whirl about 1:30 pm or so, and put a load of this fodder in my aro-biased Miniature McQueen Mage, and gave it a whirl. Not bad at all, a medium Virginia based mild-medium aro, with the usual flavour tail-off at about the 2/3 way point, as seems almost usual with this type of tobacco. My tastebuds are not yet to be totally trusted, but Mike's analysis was almost the same. Difference is he prefers Burley based aros, and I prefer Virginias, so I scored it 6/10 and he gave it a 4. Verdict? I'd buy the occasional pack of it if it were available, but as it's not, I'll smoke it judiciously 'till it ain't no mo'.

Since I've bought and used my Mr. Brog Nosewarmer, I've been much more cogniscent of shorter pipes. This one really caught my eye today . . . but man, I'd never buy it . . . with my one-eyed depth perception I'd scorch the crap out of that beautiful bowl before you could say "Jack Daniels." :ROFLMAO:

All that aside, I bet it smokes as good as it looks, too.

Rain is on the way but was able to take a break and enjoy a bottle of water and some Escudo in my handmade Bruno Nuttens Bing. I really love the balance of the pipe, the stem and the copper band, etc.
My friend, the illustrious @PaulRVA, who introduced me to Bruno's stellar work, uses a miniature Persian rug for his pipe photos.
As a "tip of the hat" to Paul, I actually found that my wife had a "mini-rug" under a figurine so I borrowed it to place the Bing on for the photo. It is not as nice as Paul's little Persian, but it's a start, ha. :col:

Two pipes from last night, my friends work on a campground and they dont have any campers up on Memorial Day weekend I got to enjoy some lovely views and some even better hanging out. After my trip to Pauls (in another thread) I broke in a new Cauyga with some Sutliff Westminster which was quite tasty, then I was smoking some Big N Burley in a Crown 728 around the bonfire. Great weekend of smokes and now I just have to figure out what I want to burn this evening...
