I’ve been trying an experiment to see how much I can learn about a blend by sticking with a single blend in a single pipe until I’m through the tin. To keep things interesting I’m bumping it up to two blend/pipe combos at a time.

Sutliff mature red VA in my avatar pipe, a 1954 Dunhill Shell briar, #656, 1/2 bent with Shulte stem.
Germain Plum Cake in an Itok Meer. Airway is a disaster. Don’t know anything about this brand. Purchased from eBay in 2016. Decent smoker if you can get past (a pipe cleaner can’t) the airway. After a half a tin of PC I can say that I won’t be buying this blend again.

Did a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in an undated straight brush etched black Molina apple with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Now smoking some Mac Baren's 7 Seas Black in a bent pipe carved in the Ukraine by someone they called "The Master." Carved in pear wood.

Peterson System Pipe Numerical Smoke~Off continued:
The 308 was discontinued in 1960. It had at it's beginning in the late 1800's been referred to as shape 14 with a few choices of stems/ Last year's Peterson Pipe of the Year (POY22) was this 308 shape referenced by its older title- the 14B. B was the choice made for stem on it. Looks great & SMOKES great. Shown below in SandBlasted Black, with Ted'd of Tulsa BLACKBERRY WINTER. I also have the Rusticated model. Both are System Pipes and have the reservoir AND the P-lip stem which has an interior taper. As Mark Irwin in his amazing Peterson Pipe history book & in his great weekly blog (Peterson Pipe Notes - https://petersonpipenotes.org/) often reminds smokers it is NOT and can NOT be a system pipe without ALL parts of the system! The P-lip is a crucial component of Charles Peterson SYSTEM. Yes, there is a difference, otherwise one is simply smoking in varied shapes of briar! AND.... the POY'22 is the shape of the pipe Mark Twain smoked and dearly loved, reborn to the original specs. These are two incredible pipes for me & smoke so well....

Channeling my inner @hoosierpipeguy by having a smoke at the course today. First time doing any sort of gold in about 8 years and that last time was at a pitch-and-putt. Smoking some Arrowhead from Paul's Pipe Shop in a Butz Choquin 1397 with a shortened stem.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl from a freshly opened tin of year 2014 Dunhill Flake in a straight smooth dark brown 1916 Barling The Hunt billiard with beautiful silver work and a black vulcanite saddle stem with an orific bit. Lavazza Classico, neat, is my drink.
@simong I've smoked Ennerdale Flake in my clay pipes and like the taste & smell of this blend. Nearly finished the Full Virginia Flake I got in Buxton in my Pollock clay. Not spent any money today!
