I’ve downshifted into “only monitoring emails” mode to close out the work week. As I have busted ass this week, I also allowed myself the the liberty of 2-beer lunch with old friends earlier. The condition of not having had a Patty Melt in a while was corrected.

McClelland Stave-Aged Virginia 35 Ribbon in a Savinelli billiard. More Stoved than red; this stuff is SWEET

Enjoyed a bunch of slices of cinnamon raisin French toast with orange slices on the side for lunch. Have about a third of a bowl left of year 2021 HU Directors Cut in a smooth medium brown slight bend 1950s Comoy’s London Pride 337C prince with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

John Cotton's Smyrna in my one and only meer. At the last Chicago Pipe Show, I still had about $60 burning a hole in my pocket, so I purchased this meer just before walking out the door. Go home with money in my pocket? Wasn't going to happen.

Smoked some more Velvet, both old & new this time in a meerschaum. I got a little enthusiastic when puffing and got a light tongue bite so will have to take it a little easier next time, LOL. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

St. Espresso in Peterson System Standard 301 P-lip. No clue what I smoked. It burnt nice. It was smooth. I get enough tobacco. No espresso, nor Americano. There are things, but they felt as though they belong there. Don't do aromatics often. Peterson System worked nicely for this blends. Pleasant smoke that I don't understand.

Got a half-bowl of Ashton Gold Rush drying on a paper towel. If I had to compose a list of underrated blends, this one would take the top spot. This will go in my MM mini-cob when it's ready. Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, White-breasted nuthatch, Western kingbird, Red-tailed hawk, Brewer's blackbird, California towhee, and Bullock's oriole. Looking forward to a nice sabbath meal tonight, and a full day of relaxation tomorrow. Of course, I have to decide on what to smoke then, which could take a while...
