Just had a nice hour with the Peterson EMP I picked up this week in my Viking (as I await a couple of Peterson pipes that are on their way). Milder than I expected (even though I know it is supposed to be pretty mild). I can see how it would be a frequent favorite. I thought it smoked really well straight out of the tin, and a good combo of spicy and sweet. And the sun came out as I sat outside reading and then just thinking.

Regarding one-piece pipes here's my 2¢:-

Clay pipes are always one-piece except when they aren't - such as when designed to be fitted later with mounts and stems ...

... or when socket connections are used ...

... or when a stem is added at a much later date to an excavated portion:-

One piece cherry-wood pipes are more uncommon ...

... yet far more common than one-piece lady's leg pipes (and one-piece metal pipes which in my experience normally have a stem made of bone) ...

Apart from clays the most common one-piece pipes are one-piece briars (and other woods):-

Do they still make them, I wonder?
@virkia You have a great collection of clay pipes my friend!

Amphora Burley in a Savinelli Aurelia 122 smooth slightly bent pot, as dressy a pipe as you could want. We just had a little holiday excursion to Snoopy's Hot Dogs, for four chili dogs which we ate in the car with large cokes and kettle baked chips we brought in the car with us, on to Krispy Kreme Donuts for a dozen glazed and two freebie donuts for showing our vaccination cards, then on to the ATM to bank our (small) federal tax refund check toward an iPro my wife badly needs. Now a cold front is blustering into our area with some rain.
The Snoopy's across the street from my office closed down. The Char Grill seems to be hanging in there. I fear there is pressure for them to leave. They are the only business on the Hillsboro St side of that block still operating. Prime location for another high rise.
