I was in my cellar and stumbled across some C&D Speakeasy from 8/19. I was buying it to push some of my orders up to get free shipping.
The tin I picked up had some puffiness. Looking at the label to see what was in it... well nothing, but that it would reach peak smoking flavor in 10-15 years. Not sure if I got that long to wait around. But then I recalled it had the Red Virginia that was in CRF.
So I grabbed a Boswell I haven’t smoked in a while. It’s sort of a fan shape with a Mohawk thing going on. I loaded some up, and I have to say it’s a pleasant smoke.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of SWRA in a 1979 straight smooth Dr. Grabow Grand Duke 45 pot with a black tapered stem. This should get me to dinner time. Haven't smoked this old reliable work pipe in sometime, and I needed a relatively short smoke. A lot of stories go with this pipe.

Odd, I have a 9 year old tin, mild and sweet, absolutely amazing. I’m not sure if a 9 year old tin of SL is Syrian, hmm ?
All I can say is if you like English/Balkan blends of various styles, then be on the look out for an aged tin like this.
To me, an aged tin of SL is one of the greats!
There is absolutely nothing bitter or sour here, just puffing bliss.
