Enjoyed some low calorie snacking, and am smoking year 2012 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. M'lady wanted to watch Jake and the Fatman, so I'm smoking the Conrad Charatan.

His detective show from the 1970s, Cannon, was a favorite of mine.

Having Cornell & Diehl Engine #382 in a French figural pipe with three deer on the stummel stamped “CHASSEUR” (which translates to ”HUNTER”).

20250331_010358.jpg

Had an electrician over on Friday and he idiotically let a stack of drywall fall over and knock down three bookcases, which knocked over a floorstanding speaker—vintage tobacco jars and pipes in all three bookcases went flying, taking out a rare top-of-the-line 6 head VCR in the process. Thankfully, only one jar broke (some well aged Rattray’s Marlin Flake), and a tub of Sir Walter Raleigh got crushed and exploded everywhere; miraculously, the pipes survived intact, along with a 120 year old glass Colossus Pipe Factory humidor—whew! The VCR is going to be pretty tough to replace. I was not a happy camper and especially angry, because I caught him moving/tilting the drywall in the morning and told him we needed to slide them down the room to access the outlets, not pull the drywall away from the wall because they can easily fall over. Did he listen? I’m still fuming.

On top of that, we had a family emergency that involving driving back to Brooklyn Friday night, where we spent several hours in the ER.

Tonight, I felt like having Engine #382, but couldn’t locate this dedicated pipe. It was one of the ones on a bookcase that got knocked over Friday afternoon. After some poking around tonight, I found it hiding under some electronic equipment.

Sorry to hear about those mishaps. That is frustrating!

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and have passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2016 Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake in a straight smooth brown post-1964 Parker Super Bruyere 88/F group 3 bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. I opened the back door to let Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave in to eat, and right as I started to close the door, Abner the Eager ran to me. I fed him in the bathroom while the others ate in the kitchen. Harry the Hairy wanted in, but there'd been trouble if I did, so I fed him outside. He had the saddest look on his face, the poor fella.

After everybody ate, I let Harry in to eat, but Molly Danger knew he was here, and raised a bit of a ruckus. She went to the bed room, but came back a minute later, and stared Harry down. I had to put him out because of how frightened Molly is of other cats, and since she's finally come to the den on her own three times in the past two weeks, I want to encourage her to be comfortable in her own home.

Abner wasn't overly friendly after being gone for five days, and I could see that he's been fighting with something because he had several scratches and scars on him. He wanted out right after he ate, which is how it's been with him lately. However, we were prepared this time, and m'lady put a tracking collar on Abner. M'lady is giving me minute by minute reports of where he is going. If somebody does own him, I wonder if that collar will stay on him. I hope so.

Sorry to hear about your family emergency, buddy. Hope all will be okay.

As for that electrician... I'd say what I am thinking, but this is a family audience. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Now smoking first production Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar family era Barling’s Make Billiard 6 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. The stampings suggest 1930s, but the “6” is a previously unknown stamp number and placement. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Watching the Green Acres square egg episode with Sleepy Suzy by my side.
