Earlier, I smoked a bowl of Rivertown Tobacco Works Mystic Moor in a medium bend 2001 Ural lattice Rhodesian with a yellow with white swirls acrylic saddle stem.


Currently, I am not far from finishing this bowl of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem.

Elizabethan Mixture in a new to me 2020 Peterson Sherlock Holmes Baskerville. I haven’t embraced the P-Lip in previous tries but I’m going work with this one more to get used to it.

Very nice pipe, unique with the smooth grain top half and the sandblasted bottom and shank. However, I am curious why you call it a bulldog instead of a “stacked” Rhodesian, with what appears to be a rounded shank? Not that it matters, I am not rigid about it, but it seems the general consensus is diamond is bulldog, and rounded is Rhodesian. I suppose because it is straight, it‘s a toss-up?

The description tag varies with some people, and I've even seen a company or two not make a distinction. I certainly do know the difference between bulldogs and Rhodesians, though. I went with what the maker said, and just never gave it any thought. The shank is ovular, not round, and I think I have to agree with you, and not the carver, so I'll change the description. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm totally with you. Burley is almost all that I want. That's an interesting little mix. What kind of proportions did you do? I've got those blends.

Nothing is measured, I just eyeball equal parts, once in a while I even put a little aromatic to sweeten it up, but let the burley flavors dominate. I’ve been neglecting my other blends which is every kind you can think of. I’m all over the place when buying tobacco. Thanks for asking @MisterDearly. I noticed you smoke cobs, burley and cobs just go together..

Spent the week with Granger. I really like this blend and will keep it in my regular rotation. A classic codger with all the hallmarks of such. I enjoy it best in a cob.

I'm near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2021 Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Evening Flake in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson Ebony POTY 4AB No. 422/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Taking a break from reviewing, but I have more to do.
