Just smoking a bowl and having a beer, contemplating. I found out today that one of my great mates has taken his own life, no rhyme no reason, just checked out.

I’m so sorry to hear this. It makes me sad when people run out of tools to deal with the pain that they feel and decide to check out. Their family and friends often feel helpless, wishing they could’ve helped in some way if they only knew what was going on. My condolences.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star 50th, neat, is my drink. Still cataloguing pipes.

Someday... someday... I will own a smooth 4AB. Absolutely gorgeous!

As a daily Carter Hall smoker I often wonder about Chatham Manor I have read your review of it but it seems like a lot of people like it.

That’s quite impressive. How did you manage to secure five Boswell pipes all in one purchase?
Once his pipes post on Monday nights, they usually sell out in a day or so?
I’m waiting for the grand unveiling!
Five Boswell Beauties and a Bargain Basement Bonanza

The flat screen hummed a low, comforting drone in the corner of "the Garage," a space I've affectionately converted into my personal smoking den. Silky gray smoke, the fragrant ghost of a particularly fine English blend, hung heavy in the air, mingling with the scent of aged oak from my scotch and the faint, almost imperceptible aroma of Latakia tobacco. Neon signs cast a lurid glow on the walls, illuminating my cluttered sanctuary. Another fruitless hour spent scouring online auctions for rare tobacco had yielded nothing. Disappointment gnawed at me. Then, a flicker in the chatroom; a message from a fellow enthusiast.

It was a dark, blustery winter night, perfectly suited to the contemplative puffing of a well-aged pipe. Suddenly, the dull ache of unmet desires transformed into a giddy rush of adrenaline. "MSD", a name I vaguely recognized from various online forums, had posted: "Five Boswell's, various shapes and sizes. Once in a lifetime offer." My heart leaped. Boswell pipes are legendary, the epitome of Pennsylvania craftsmanship and elegance. Five? For a price I could not believe. My fingers flew across the keyboard.

"MSD," I typed, my fingers trembling slightly, "are these beauties you mentioned still available?"

A few minutes later, a reply popped up: "Yeah, they're all in unsmoked or like new condition." I'm thinking to myself; why are they legit, are you giving up smoking, are they just taking up space? I'm not one to pry, especially when someone offers up five for less than the price of two new Boswell pipes! I could barely believe it. Disbelief warred with utter elation.

"Sold!" I typed, barely containing my excitement. "I'll take them." A deal was sealed with digital ink. I felt like I'd won the lottery.

A week later, a package arrived. Inside, nestled in paper, were five magnificent J.M. Boswell pipes; an unsmoked 2024 Weathered Stone Canadian with a black and silver acrylic stem, a 2024 bent billiard swirl shot shell with a light blue acrylic stem only smoked 1 time; a slender, elegant 2025 slight bent billiard with an ebonite stem smoked one time; a chunky, 2025 rusticated shank Canadian with a mocha acrylic stem smoked 1 time; and a 2025 smooth light stain billiard sitter with an ebonite stem also smoked 1 time. And as a bonus, MSD, a true gentleman, included a generous sample of Boswell's English Biscuit – a rich aromatic, English mixture I have enjoyed before.

Now, I have five Boswell pipes, five more than I needed. I had intended to smoke all five of them, savoring the subtle differences in each draw, the nuances of their construction, the sheer joy of owning such exquisite pieces. But truthfully? I think I'll keep two or three for myself. The rest? Well, I'll share this Boswell bounty. After all, a true pipe enthusiast never hoards treasure, only shares it.

Thank you. It took a long time to get Peterson to make the 4ABs, and I wish they'd put them back into production. I am fortunate to own the set.

In case you don't know the back story: The Peterson 4AB POTY Is Coming! :: Pipe Talk - https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/the-peterson-4ab-poty-is-coming.87844/
Yes, I sadly just missed out on the launch of that re-release. I've acquired a sandblast and a rustic since then, however. Of course now that the 309 and 4S are back in production we can only hope it's just a matter of time before the 4AB and maybe even the 4B make a return!
