Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2021 Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Evening Flake in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson Ebony POTY 4AB No. 422/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem.

Currently, I'm half way through this bowl of year 2018 Sutliff Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a 1982 smooth straight Dunhill Root Briar 31051 dublin with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Had a long chat with a good friend.

Now smoking Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum of the Basil Rathbone blend. The gloss on this pipe has disappeared over time, and it not only has a matte finish now, but I can see the grain to higher degree than before. The same is true for the 4AB Natural and the 4AB Terracotta.

MANY, MANY THINGS HAPPENING TODAY so this is going to be a FYI post, and should be of interest to most people who post on this thread.

In horror a few days ago, I checked my posting numbers and I am about to be moved up to a category that I'm not yet comfortable with. But it is what it is.

So, as I'm going to be absent for a short stretch of time (except for the occasional cameo, reasons given below) I WISH TO THANK PROFUSELY THE MEMBERS OF THIS, JIMI'S ONGOING THREAD, WHICH IS LIKE A FORUM WITHIN A FORUM. THERE ARE, AT REASONABLE COUNT, A FEW DOZEN REGULARS ON THIS EXCELLENT THREAD. YOU FOLKS HAVE ELEVATED MY KNOWLEDGE AND GROWTH EXPONENTIALLY IN COMPARISON TO WADING THE SWAMP, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

i feel more confident now in what I know, and realize that there is still a long ways to go. That being said, I'll reiterate my thanks to all.

I have a few PMs going that are important I answer and when I have the time, that'll be during my midnight cameos. And I feel as comfortable as I can in letting guys in this thread know all of this.

Reasons for the modus interruptus is not only my ongoing and posted activities such as shooting, and so forth, but the time of year (Lent), the fact that there are many people in my life relying on me and my help during their personal crises, and the fact that my canine companion Ricoh, that 22 year old totally deaf and blind Shih-tsumutt that I've written about here many times, is in the last stages of his life.

He has been totally incontinent for about 3 months, helpless literally, but otherwise healthy and pain-in-the-butt demanding. His mobility has deteriorated. The cleanup sessions each day are wearing, but bearable. But now Riks has stopped eating, just picking sometimes, and drinking too much water. That's tailing off, too. But he is in no pain. Just giving out. The wear and tear on my knees is tough indeed (have no cartilage at all in either, and several doctors in the past have recommended that I DO NOT have the replacements done and one has reiterated this diagnoses lately) and also on my hernia, a work in progress.

I'm fine otherwise, have no sickness related problems or contrainments (yet, lol), it's all coming from perpheral sources in my life which I have very little control over. I'm not disappearing, I'm just doing what I have to do and will as mentioned above, appear when I can. Lots of smoke stuff to relate.

I'm sure you've all had similar stretches to negotiate, so not asking for sympathy. Just letting you know. And, oh yes, a final request, one that I'm sure you all are aware of, we have a number of new, and excellent lurkers and becoming obsessed posters in this thread. They know a lot and have lots to contribute, as you know. We were all there in this forum ourselves. You all know that too, but taking this next step was probably one that many of you winced at, like me. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Cheers, Gord.

PS oh oh I see the category shift has happened . . . . Oh :poop: !!
Wishing you all the best sir. You presence will be missed but we look forward to your return. God bless 🙏

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of D&R Penhooker Silver in a 1988 smooth brown three quarter bend Peterson System Standard XL 315 military mount with a nickel cap and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

No problems. The Block date letter is 1868 because the Birmingham mark was turned sideways from 1860 to 1899 so they are both a perfect date fit. New Birmingham marks are now sideways as well but they stamp the silver 925 rather than have the Lion Passant so that negates anything new. What sort of pipe is it as they are nice old hallmarks.

To honor Peterson's recent (limited) release of the classic 309, I brought out my two 309's that have been sitting for a while in the rack = a Smooth & a Donegal Rocky Rusticated. Still patting myself on the back for the good decision to purchase both in '13, influenced by the awesome pic of Lee Van Cleef, aka Angle Eyes.

Smoked the Smooth tonight with some Wessex Campaign Dark Flake, into which I added about 25% Rattray's Black VA. Such a great smoke, one that was "in the zone".

NOTE to Pipe Club brothers: I'll be bringing these to next Tue's meeting. I'll also again bring my Stanwell 63, Smooth. One of the brothers commented on it last month, mentioning that he also has some 63s & likes them. If he's reading this before next Tue, I'd like to see his 63s, which are my favorite Stanwells.
NOTE2: Probably it would be best for men to be a bit judicious about being overheard saying, "I'll show you mine if you show me yours"! :)

Jim ... Great pipe! I've got both a Smooth & a Donegal Rocky rusticated. I ordered both with the Fishtail stem.
Both are System Standards, of course, and the Smooth is actually called the 305XL. Not sure why they didn't just call it a 315, like the Rusticated? My smaller 305s, also both a Smooth & a Donegal Rocky rusticated, are each called 305s. LOVE the Pete System Standards (!!!).
QUES:
In all the WAYS I've followed, I don't think I've ever seen you show a Cob, nor a Falcon. Guessing they're not your "thing", but I'm curious???

Did some low calorie snacking, and am smoking year 2018 D&R Windsail in a smooth straight pre-transition Barling 313 T.V.F. EXEXEL pot with a black ebonite saddle stem. Going through the fifteen Barlings that I got today, half of which are pre-transition. Fed Harry the Hairy, and when he went out, Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave came in to eat. Tomato is playing with catnip toys while Daisy stares at the goofball.
