Success! Er, I mean gosh darn it all! Guess I need to buy another pipe. Even the rain and wind couldn’t stop it. I filed a claim on the depreciated value of my pipe, which was about 50 cents. Don’t think even mud can restore this one. MM Missouri Pride was the tobacco.

This may be a situation requiring reporting to @ashdigger or @mikethompson?
The first for a post fire investigation and the second for scientific research on the durability of corn cob pipes. 🤣

Lane RLP-6 in a Country Gentleman cob while I do my afternoon dog walks, trudging through 9" of freshly fallen snow.

I've only got one pipeful of RLP-6 left after this, but that's alright because I finally got around to placing what should be my last pipe tobacco order of the year last night and picked up a big 7 ounce tub of my preferred Captain Black Original; so I'll be set on my usual everyday blend for quite awhile! puffy

Corn isn't what it used to be with all the added growth hormones and additives these days.

This afternoon I’m enjoying a birthday blizzard bowl of Hal O The Wynd in my Irwin’s 676

I took the day off to relax, spend some extra time with my family, attend Ash Wednesday services, enjoy my yearly steak, and smoke a nice cigar, not necessarily in that order. Instead, I got my birthday blizzard, a fairly common event for an early March birthday: at least 8 inches of snow so far, with 30-50 mph winds, and projected to last until the early morning hours. So instead of steak, it'll be spaghetti, a traditional birthday treat; instead of going out on the town, we'll stay home at watch a movie. At least we've had electricity most of the day.

It's too cold and windy for a full-size cigar, so I'm spending some quality time in my tent with the propane heater. My birthday hauls have been delayed due to weather, but that's ok: lots of quality tobacco in my stash. After Monday's first taste of HOTW, I wanted to see if it's as good as I remembered. It is. I'll be shopping for more of this.

I consider the Irwins 676 to be my birth year pipe: as far as I can tell, it was made in the mid to late 60s: close enough for me.

I also consider this to be my pipe birthday: a year ago today I bought my first pipe, the Irwins 676, and received some free samples of house blends with it. Total cost: $10 cash. After my first taste of Cap'n Black Gold induced tongue bite, I tried one of the house blends, and found it much better. It's been a learning experience with some challenges and frustrations, but overall very enjoyable and worthwhile. This forum has been a big part of that enjoyment: I've enjoyed a lot of fellowship and learning here. Thank you all for being part of that!

Meer billiard. Seersucker.

Since finishing Umineko the other day, I'm now reading Higurashi which is technically a prequel, but in a completely different location and with no recurring characters (unless we count the voyager witches who were "playing" Higurashi, but that connection didn't exist until they were introduced in Umineko).
