@Laurent , that’s cool brother. I started out the same way and did a couple of kits and then a couple, using my drill press for the drought hole ,mortise and chamber, before I got the lathe. Stick with it sir! Your pipes look great!I’ve only made two so far. You’d laugh if you saw how I did it lol. I own every wood tool except a lathe. I drilled the holes using a drill, clamps, and steel tubed shims to keep everything in line. Stems are bought. I hand shape them with a 6” wheel, chisels and sandpaper. The first was a mimmo kit though that I just hand shaped and stained. I’ve watched old videos of famous pipe makers in the day make pipes without lathes and just followed the technique and made my own tools too. I plan on doing more. One day I’ll get a lathe lol.
I concur, better than running the risk of the seals going and the tobacco going stale. ?Open them. They were actually still made by Dunhill back then, and you may never get another chance to smoke that vintage. The best versions were made by Dunhill.
Thank you! Same to you.@Laurent , that’s cool brother. I started out the same way and did a couple of kits and then a couple, using my drill press for the drought hole ,mortise and chamber, before I got the lathe. Stick with it sir! Your pipes look great!
Enjoy the weekend, Monday comes fast. I'm glad you're doing well with the new job and more importantly, I hope you're enjoying it.Good afternoon. Today is the first day of relaxation and rest. Smoking happy at home, after overcoming the nerves and anxiety of giving all the good of my first job. It seems that everything is going smoothly, and that scares me. Smoking now with my Calabash Stanwell, I celebrate with Samuel Gawith: Full Virginia Flake, and a small glass of brandy. I wish you guys a happy Saturday. View attachment 134999
