Rattray’s Hal O’ The Wynd in my 69’ Dunhill Bruyere Lovat 38 F/T. This is a Group 3 pipe.

I haven’t smoked this pipe in so long that I don’t have a proper picture for it. I’ll have to remedy this.

Sampling some OGS in an old Dunhill group 4 billiard while I do my taxes. Bit of a cold shitty day for it. I may add a wee dram of something to the afternoon coffee.

Charing Cross in Peterson St. Paddy's 80s. GEC86. Good smoke, but had some issue with clenching on right side. Need more practice.

Now smoking year 2000 GLP Caravan in a 2002 Ser Jacopo Delecta Fatta A Mano R1 sandblast Rhodesian with a smooth extension at the shank with a military mount and a black acrylic tapered stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Most makers probably had at least one range of briar pipes with meerschaum lined bowls - the practice of lining briar bowls with meerschaum going back to at least the 1880s and is of course a practice that continues to this day with the Falcon bowls, the Peterson 'Kapmeer' etc., etc.
A meerschaum lining also found inside Calabash pipes of the early 20th cent. usually but not always with a metal bowl rim that served its purpose both as a decorative item and to protect the gourd and lining from damage caused by rough dottle removal:-

I don’t own more than several GBD’s, never caught that bug, but I have three times the amount of BBB’s...

I believe the metal escutcheon in the stem was introduced in the 1920’s, first being a brass colored metal, and changing to a silver colored metal in the late 1960’s. Conjecture on my part, I’m not a GBD Guru. ?
